Usually I can overcome AA quite quickly and can open any girl if I really want to. However, for some reason this girl at work i just can't seem to build up the courage. Its not even like she's a 10, she's probably only a 7/8 but there's just something about her i find compelling. I think the problem is, I usually can do cold approaches easily, but where's she's a colleague, she knows who I am even though we've never had a conversation. I've had neither ioi's from her nor iod's, she just doesnt really acknowledge me at all, unless i smile at her - she will smile back but it looks like more of a polite smile than an ioi. Im not sure why it is i can bring myself to approach, but it might have something to do with the fact that a couple of people have told me she's a bit up herself. That phased me a bit, as I have low-self esteem issues anyway so deep down i feel like she'd reject me straight away. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to initiate communication? Its not really a cold approach but not a familiar approach either. Just sort of luke warm if you know what i mean. |

From my experience in this type of setting, I suggest you treat her like you would with your other co-workers. Usually you talk and socialize right? do the same thing with her and navigate after that, she might be attracted to you or she might not. So by talking and interacting with her like another co-worker you can pickup the vibe. Take action instead of thinking about what if, it's best to get these type things out of your head as soon as you can. |

What I know of interpersonal work relationships is that there is either a connection based on a common interest, or humor. The common interest thing has to surface on its own so you can't rely on that. But you can inject humor into anything. What I would do is come up with something about her or the things on her desk or her role in that company that can be joked about. Then you can use that as a running joke and continue on with dialogue with her going forward and you'll always have that topic to work off of. But it may not be easy. You might have to just sack up and walk right up to her and blurt out whatever it is that you've come up with as your topic of discussion. However, once you break the ice it gets a lot fucking easier. |
