I've been having a few problems recently with my openers being shot down, not because they have heard them before but because it's obvious what they are.

For example, I tried out some classics last weekend just to see if they really worked.

"Did you see that fight outside?..."

"Hey, do I look like a drug dealer?...."

Obviously they are over simplified versions of the openers but I'm sure they are common place enough here that most people would recognize them.

They break the ice ok, but a few minutes into conversations I've been called for it being just a line. Obviously this isn't good, admitting it is seems to shift them all the power. Your just another guy who's trying to pick her up. Saying it isn't looks weak, because you've obviously used a line and now won't even admit it.

So my question is, how do you react if you get called on using a line?

How do you use a line, but in such a way that it doesn't seem like a line?

Develop your conversation skills. Stop thinking so much about picking up the girl and just put yourself "in the moment" and have a conversation. If you stale out the set, you are going to get called out for using a line. Your opener doesn't really mean shit besides the ability to open a set without being rejected right away...

Ok the reason why these chicks are calling you out for using a line is because you are using a fucking line. Don't use lines just be very direct with them and make your intentions very clear within the first few seconds.

They are calling you out because they know that you are just trying to use these stupid little tricks on them just so that you can get into their pants.

It kinda sounds weird, and probably sounds like it will be more awkward, but by being very direct it shows them that you are confident and that you know what you want and that you don't need to use any stupid little tricks to get it.

To put it simply, the only way to not get called out for using lines is to just simply not use them.

You need to think up your own openers so that they're congruent with your personality. Stick to opinion openers and make them relevant to the environment you're in. My best ever opinion opener ever was "does this shirt go with these trousers?" Women love giving guys dress tips.
