So, Theres this regular customer that comes into the petrol station I work and there has been a lot small talk and smiling but would like to ask her name without sounding like a weirdo haha. Has anyone got any ideas on how to get the ball rolling?

I had an idea, After saying hello and during the transaction I was thinking of saying " What do you think of the name Esmerlda? See all our customers know our names cause of name tag but we don't know our regulars, both good and bad regulars. I think you look like an Esmerelda. And I'm not telling you if your a good or bad customer... unless you give me a big tip or tell my manager to give me a raise/promotion"

What do you guys think?

Just say, "You're in here all the time, what's your name?"

I've had a ton of jobs in retail and customer service. One of my more recent ones was credit cards sales for a bank. The opener was almost always as follows, "Hey, this is your bank (confidentiality) calling, we were just giving you a quick call to let you know what a great history you have with the bank." The one thing I detracted from this that would be helpful in your situation is a similar opening. "Hey, you come in here all the time, I suppose I should learn your name." *insert grin/smile* Works almost without failure anywhere I've worked. Besides being good for business she will come in more and then you have the opportunity to greet her informally. Its easy to follow up after that with some sort of comment like, "(insert woman's name), I knew you'd be back to see me." Anyways.. you get the idea.
