Opened With Neg Huge Blowout

Post subject:  Opened With Neg Huge Blowout
Trying to work on my game and figure out what works best.

3 girls dancing on dancefloor and I go up and say "Hey, you guys are in my space"...........obviously trying to be joking etc but the hot one gets a big frown and backs away and says "here's your space then!" in a mean way.

This kind of opener etc has never worked well for me. Advice?

several things you could have done. that was not one of them.

maybe playfully ask them why they are in your space then start dancing.

or tell them to step aside then you bust out your best moves and take the hand of the hottest one there either when you are done or so you can dance with her. then lead her away from it all and take it from there.

or just dance with them.

point being, you can't tell them they are in your space because it's a dance floor and people are there to have fun.

Something better to say would have been "are you guys trying to dance with me? I don't dance with just anyone you know, you're gunna have to show me what you've got" in a cocky-funny way. Leads to automatic qualification attempts from them

open none verbally dancing, but if you want to talk, just ask them whose birthday are you girls celebrating? that is a good opener, even if nobody is celebrating a birthday... other opener you girls know how to party(rsd)

You really have to work on saying it with the correct tone. And it really shouldn't be sarcastic.

I had a funny thing happen to me this past weekend. I opened a girl by saying, "I always make a point to introduce myself to the hottest girl at the bar." So I pause and then introduce myself. She had the biggest smile on her face and was loving it but instead of stopping there I added "So can you introduce me to her" pointing another girl. It didn't go over horribly but I really didn't need to add the second part.

Another thing to consider is the noise level in the bar/club. The louder the music the harder it is going to be to pull off a good verbal opener.

bostondood makes a good point here. I think you had the right idea with your opener, James, but it may have come off like you were trying to be a jerk. Next time try wording it differently and have a friendly tone. Smiling is always a good idea, too.

On a sidenote, I really like this opener and I may have to steal it from you and use it sometime. Hope you don't mind ;)

Thank Gambler. It's basically one of his modified a little. On that note, it can be useful to change a opener or any piece to make it more natural even if it is just a few words.
