| Post subject: | Help needed with improving openers and opening in clubs! |
I'm only just starting with all this PUA stuff (and I'm really determined to do my best with this shit) and my main problem is approaching and opening. I'm making some progress with small talk, which was at the start a HUGE problem but now I've finally come to terms with that my main problem is approaching someone, so now I'm just going to focus on getting rid of any approach anxiety I have and make my entrance effective before even starting on anything else. Really, I don't really have any approach anxiety when I know what to say to people. I'm completely confident going up to random people if I know what I'm going to say, and I'm popular for being the one in my social group for going up to random people in an attempt to scare them off (it's a game we do; usually with loads of comments about taboo subjects haha) or actually talk to them generally. When I approach a set or girl, I usually open with "Hey, can I ask you/you guys a quick question?" I throw in a time constraint, root the opener and then ask them what their opinion is on guys wearing ponytails. This usually opens up to loads of subjects like hair products and using hair as a fashion statement, which is great because women seem to love talking about this shit. Also, I have quite long hair, which constantly gets me female attention so this works hand-in-hand with developing some kino. Now the problem here is that this makes it quite hard for guys to join in. Which can sometimes be quite useful when I want to just isolate the girls because they just end up going off somewhere or talk amongst themselves, but I need a new opener that can get the whole group talking. Can anyone suggest any openers that I can use? Does anyone also have any openers they use to girls or sets in a shop that sells CDs and DVDs, like HMV? Also, I haven't found any advice on this subject yet, but how would I go about approaching someone wearing earphones or headphones listening to music? And this is the last problem: approaching people in a club with fucking loud music. I haven't got the loudest voice in the world, and I have hearing problems (being a musician) so the two don't go very well together. I can never tell if I'm too quiet or too loud (like, shouting) and I find it quite hard to hear what they're saying as well. I can only usually approach in a club with a verbal opener when it's the beginning of the night since the music isn't as loud. I had success that night as well. I've been looking at Gambler's non-verbal openers and they're quite good, the only problem is, when everyone is dancing and things are quite hectic, it's very hard to force an IOI when you can hardly get any eye contact. Can anyone give me any tips for approaching in loud areas with verbal and/or non-verbal openers? Actually, sorry, this is the last problem: People usually come up to me and say I look like Jacob from Twilight (as a compliment). How can I respond to this after saying "thank you"? Thanks guys! |

Hey, thanks for responding as for people on head phones get infront of them and start mouthing words but dont make any sounds. when they take off there headphones they will laugh because u will be mouthing and makeing no sounds. after they laugh open them. Out of interest, what would normally follow after your "you guys look like trouble" opener? |
