Do a natural/observational /opinion opener. Point out something you noticed on her and ask her about it. If you're at the shoe store, ask her about a pair of shoes you are looking at. Talk about the pair of shoes she is trying on. Have some follow up comment or something interesting to say to keep the initial conversation going, preferably something funny and whimsical. Then say "My name is John btw, who are you?" At that point you know each other and the conversation can be taken anywhere. Don't sit there and talk about shoes for 25 minutes staight. Get passed the intro and start running a routine that can be escalated and closed upon. |
