(really sorry for the length of this, but I think you'll get a kick out of it)

Lemme start off by saying I think hired gun game is a waste of time (but I haven't read anything on it by Mystery so)... I've hooked up with bartenders but only when they see me play music. Otherwise I'm just another guy. Here goes:

I'd call this my 3rd FULL BLOWN approach--but it didn't start out as an actual approach. I'll explain. HB9 waitress. I never go after waitresses, and I started this one out with the goal of using the line and having her critique it.

Me: "I have to tell you something. Of all the hot waitresses I've seen in the last hour, you are at least the 4th hottest."
Her: (stunned)
Me: smiling, "how was that"
Her: "that was... that was pretty good."
Me: "I just came up with it. I usually like to test them on people I would never go after in real life before I do it for real. What went through your head?" (I knew this was a DLV but thought later in the interaction that it may have just been a second NEG/false disqualifier)
Her: "I was like 'um, why am I not the hottest, douche.'"
Me: "Haha. You seem high maintenance."
Her: "I'm totally not, I'm actually low maintenance."

I then found out she was a dancer, said I get along best with creative types because I'm a musician and I have rehearsal in like 20 minutes (not a FTC I actually did). We talked quite a bit and it was very pleasant and smooth flowing.

5 minutes later, another waitress came by and asked "so what number am I" and I laughed and said "I didn't even look at you, I'll let you know tomorrow."

Our waitress came by periodically, one time asking me "hey high maintenance, how's your drink" and at one point touched me on the shoulder. At this point I thought she may be interested in me and figured I might as well try cuz if not I'd never know. This is the ONLY reason why I decided to try my hand at making this into an actual approach instead of just getting a hot woman's opinion.

She came back for the check and I talked about my gig in Fresno this weekend, etc... then this happened.

Me: "You know what you have to do now, right?"
Her: "What?"
Me: "You have to give me your number."
Her: "I can't."
Me: "You don't have a phone number?"
Her: "I can't because I'm high maintenance" and she immediately walked away.

I still gave her a nice tip, smiled at all the waitresses and walked out about as confidently as possible. Everyone just saw me chat up and get the attention of 2 hot ass waitresses.

QUESTIONS:

1) Is this a good line to use on passers by on the street or in the store?
2) Was I wrong in turning this into an actual approach since she knew I was just testing it (DLV?)? Or, was there something I could've done differently to save it.

Any advice/criticism is appreciated. The input on my last approach from you guys is almost the sole reason I did this today. Really improved my approach and gave me reassurance, which I need at this stage.

field test #1 ended in fail and offended the girl, and you didn't manage to re-frame from her reaction, instead you pushed and pushed, but didn't pull

field test it on more people, see how it goes, don't tell them it's a test, cheapens the fuck out of the line, just let them think wow what a douche, and get feedback after you fail instead of before you even try

GOOD LUCK

Ye you shouldn't have told her you're testing this on people. But you know what? You can always find a way.

In your situation I wouldn't even consider giving her tip haha. Instead when she brings the bill. Say
me:"Excuse me. This must be wrong!" and look at it strangely
She will then look at it and ask what's wrong with it or that it's right. You then go
you:"It doesn't have your number on."

Be cocky be creative. It only didn't work for you because you weren't clear in your intentions. She only came after you to seek approval from you not because she was interested. You shouldn't have given it to her so fast. There are literally million ways you could have closed her but you got to the point that she even told her colleagues about you and that's very good.

Well yes, obviously I wouldn't tell anyone I was going after that it was a test, I'd probably follow it up with a laugh. Will keep ya posted.

THAT is sooo my style. Although i must admit that I do hit on waitresses and bartenders very often as well. I just use a slight different approach. I did date quite a few of them, hei theyre nice people! :D
