Post subject:  Bar opener

You go up to the bar to order a drink and theres a HB standing next to you. We both know that each other is there. Here is my proposed opener (not sure if it would work):

Schwiz - Hey Katie!

HB - What? My names not Katie!

Schwiz - Oh sorry you look exactly like someone I know.

HB - Really?

Schwiz - Sorry for the mixup, Im so and so...

Then proceed into an opinion opener or some kind of attention grabber.

I came up with this today at work, I doubt its any good but if anyone would like to elaborate on it, feel free!

I'm not sure this is a strong opener, though I think the initiative and creativity is awesome.

The weakness in your scenario is the "Really?", its a strong/risky assumption that she'll say that. A tough target will will have a smart come back (i.e. "well then you're lucky she'll talk to you", etc), or they could just turn around and ignore you. Also, at the end you shouldn't introduce yourself until they've introduced themselves.

Let me know how it goes. I'm interested in seeing how it turns out.

I have seen this one used before...Forgot where I read it...after you state that she looks familiar, mention that it was a girl that you had a crush on in school..You could even mention how hung up on herself that girl was...and neb about how she probably is.....just a thought...it can really be built on...

Im not sure, i suppose it will work some but most of the time it wont work or just make you look foolish. Try this one 'do i know you from somewhere? was'nt you in so-an-so bar, oh you just look abit like her i was abit tipsy at the time because it was my friends birthday and everyone kept buying me drinks.' then ask a question. This works best when you have seen the girl before in a certain bar, place or shop she works in & then open with 'ah its you, how you doin, u probly dont remember i met u in...'

P.S
dont do what Lucious said by telling her that she looks like a girl you had a crush on and was hung up about at school. Its like saying i fancy the pants off you and i love you ' before you even started. Dont give the game away so easy. I think it would DLV. You could spin it that she looks like a girl that had a crush on you. But its up to you and how you wanna play it. Just experiment abit and see what happens.

I have seen it work for my friend....I would not use it.....As funny as I think it may be...I would not use the ( you probably don't remember but..) I don't know a pretty face from any other..unless you had an actual interaction with her...

That was just an example, it just comes out depending on her reponse, its just the way i wrote it.

Moz: hey you, how you doin?

Hb: im ok, do i know you?

Moz: yeah we spoke before when you was working at *****.
or i met you **** bar...
HB: Oh right, blah blah blah

Moz: so you havin a good night, who you here with?

As i said before thats an example.
There's a million ways that conversation could go. I hav'nt used this before but for sure i will one day. Its just a good bit of backup incase needed.

Is it really a good idea to be that forward and say... "Hey how are you... Who are you here with?"

I would turn it into a neg. After the opening, asking her something like "hey, where are all your friends?" or "you know its not healthy to drink alone (for a bar)" That way you can find out if she is with anyone without putting her on the defensive by being so straightforward.

Thats very good spark. I love it. Gonna be using this one.

'who are you here with?'

I think Its ok this ask this, as long as she's comftable with you talking to her whats the problem.
Its abit like mystery's 'so how do you know each other' to find out if she has a BF near by. Its always good to ask who she's with early on cus it can save you alot of trouble.
