| Post subject: | First Post - Field Report / Opener Transition Sticking Point |
Hey all, Been doing some reading / watching and decided to add some structure / methodology to my game. After a couple weeks of study, decided to put some of the material to work this weekend, including Jealous Girlfriend and the Cologne openers. Jealious Girlfriend went well. It was a mellow Friday night where nobody was up to going anywhere good due to a storm in the area. A few of my friends and I hit a local dive, where I came across a 4 set of HB7s sitting at a table nearby. Figuring that it was as good a time as ever to approach, I invoked the 3 second rule and went in. TBH, everything went well – I adequately ignored the target, disarmed the toughest of the group, and engaged the other two friendlies. Eveything was going great, however, when it came time to transition and DHV, I stumbled. I really didn’t know how to move out of jealous GF and into anything else that might naturally follow without going back to “so what do you girls do?” type stuff. I made a graceful exit back to my friends, and intended to revisit in a bit, however within 5 minutes, some clown had come in and sat down (promptly scattering the set). Saturday, I ended up at a more exclusive / loud / posh club with a friend of mine and his boy. This night I thought I’d give the Cologne Opener a shot. Again, I walked through the club and found a nice 4 set to open. The girls were standing off to the side of the dance floor which, other than private booths, comprised most of the bar area. I approached and everything went as expected. I engaged the girls and they seemed happy to check out the scents and give their opinions. After that however, again – I had nothing to transition into and no way to transition. So after my first attempt at putting the material to work, I’ve got a couple observations / questions: 1) What are some good follow up DHV’s that can be used in a loud club? Obviously this is not the time or place for things like 4 questions / the cube – etc. While I love 5 lies, what’s a good way to transition into it? 2) A mistake from Friday – I didn’t move to lock in – a key omission. However, Saturday (and often times) the girls were just standing around. While Style has said that it doesn’t matter how strong your game is, if you stand around too long you’re just ‘hovering’ – does that apply to groups that are standing? As I write this, I realize that there are other ways to lock in in these scenarios, so perhaps I just need to think more about the specifics of the situation. Overall, the material / theory worked quite well, particularly for a first time out from an inexperienced practitioner. BTW – if anyone was curious why I only approached one set each night – Friday – that’s all there was to work with and Saturday I chose only to detail the set I opened w/ the cologne opener – the rest of the evening was spent reverting back to my natural cocky / funny game which resulted in a solid F-close. That said, while I’m happy with my natural game, there were several girls in the place that I saw opportunity with (staring at me / smiling / giving me the stank eye when I would speak with other girls) but that I hesitated to open and THAT is precisely why I’m here. PS – what is ‘Strawberry Fields’? Thanks, AllDay |

hey congrats on working up the balls to actually open a couple 4-sets, it takes a lot of courage to do that. i haven't had the guts to do it so kudos man. i'm confused here too about DHV i mean it's not like you can just lean back and look relaxed while they all stare at you to DHV... |
