Ever watched the detective show Columbo? Shits on Quincy huh? We can learn from him. This technique makes my opinion openers seem more natural, and less like i singled them out for a question. Columbo is a great detective because he doesn't outwardly appear to be a great detective. Great PUA's don't appear to be great PUA's. Example [Columbo questioning Suspect, Columbo:Awkward/Suspect:Tense,Wary] Columbo: "So you haven't ever been to the beach where the murder took place?" Suspect: "I already told you, no! I've nothing more to say!" Columbo:Ok, well i'm gonna go [Columbo starts walking away, Suspect visibly relaxes] [Columbo unexpectedly turns back around catching supect off-guard] C: "Remind me, where did the sand in your shoes come from?" [Startled Suspect blurts out...] S:"The beach of course, now can you please leave?!" C:"I see! Been to the beach recently then?" Using it [Indy walks past a set] Indy:(to set) "Hey!" Target:"Uh, hey!" [Indy carries on walking, set relaxes, Indy then turns back round and say's...] I: "Actually, maybe you girls could help me with something"....*Opinion Opener* This makes the opinion opener seem less planned, the "Hey!" seems off-the-cuff as was the decision to ask them a question. In fact, the "hey!" got their attention, so they saw you walk away, then they saw you decide to ask them something on the spot. p.s that wasnt an excerpt from Columbo, i made it up, but you get the idea. |
