| Post subject: | Like a Dog |
Last night, I spent a little time observing a dog while having coffee with a buddy of mine. I said "Look at the dog. He's the most loved creature out here right now. No one has anything against him, everyone loves him." Earlier, I was walking out of the coffee shop, and he came straight up to me. I thought to myself, "Hey cool, a dog. He's coming up for me to pet him, I love dogs." But instead of coming up just to pet him, he jumped up and put his paws on my chest! I just laughed and scratched his ear, and thought "Man, what a friendly dog." Afterwards, I really thought there was a lot to learn from that. So, I tested out some "dog-approach theory." Now, my approach is pretty good right now. Still using canned material, but I have a solid approach. I need serious help with mid-game, and eventually closing. But for now, my approach is good. Anyway, back to the theory. While walking to work in the morning, a HB7 was approaching from the other direction. My buddy looked at me and said "*Engage" and I went to test the theory. I didn't wait for her to past and circle around. I didn't make it look like I just "happened" to get in her way. I made a bee line for her. I made direct eye contact the whole time, with a big smile on my face. I could see the look on her face saying "Uh, this guys coming to talk to me? Is he going to hit on me? What is this?" She flashed a nervous smile and had a slight shake in her voice. "Can I get your opinion on something?..." After I finished the opener, I ejected. My mid-game is really hurting right now, and I wanted to leave on a good note. But as I left, I kept an eye on her shadow and saw her look back as I left. I think "dog-approach" theory might have some ground to be useful. Anyone else wanna try it out? *My buddy and I have a game we play. He spots a chick and says "engage." If I don't do it, I owe him a dollar. Really helps with AA. P.S. Any tips on mid-game would be appreciated. Feel free to message, as I'd rather focus on the OP theory than why I suck at mid-game. |
