So here is my thing. If any of you have read other posts by me, you would know that I'm a very busy club DJ in the Philadelphia area. I have a question for anyone out there with more experince than myself with pick-up. When I'm DJing, I'm extremely focused on what I'm doing. I consider mixing records and art form, and I treat it as such. So while I'm working, there are, of course, many beautiful women that pass by me. Or better yet, there are attractive women who come up and "try" to talk to me. The most common things they say to me are as follows: "Hey, Sorry to bother you, but do you take requests?" "Can you play.. (Insert song name here)" "I love your hat" "I just wanted to say you're doing a great job" My problem is, the girls who approach me and who I'm interested in, I don't have more than maybe a minute to interact with them inbetween any mix. I'm already DHV'ing by being a talented DJ and displaying my talent in front of them. But I need some ideas on how I can turn a 1 minute conversation into something more after I'm done with work, or a quick way to possibly get a date, or at least a number in such a short amount of time. I'm not a bad looking guy so I think attraction is there in some form already. I just need to know how to verbalize it. Any ideas? I could use the help. If anyone wants to, you can find me on MySpace, just look up Aiden Scott |

Oh god your job takes the F out of FTC, in a setting where women are just dying to meet an interesting guy, you're already demonstrating tons of DHV by being the DJ and you're given an inherent alpha status because you control the flow and feel in the club. This is golden man. You could beat the best mPUAs for the "fastest avg. time to close". Just act the part you're perceived to be, and say something like "I'm glad you like my music. Maybe we can 'mix' it up sometime." while doing kino to the girls who are opening to you. |

I just haven't figured out how to harness this situation. And I have yet to really take full advantage of whats being thrown at me. I obviouslly have some inner-game issues to deal with. |

hey man im in the exact same situation as you , people often say 'oh being a dj must get all the women',but certainly not while your djing if your mixing the records properly. Yes you do get some attention afterwards though. I really think you cant do the two at the same time so I strongly recommend asking if theres parties on later, possible instant n-close, |

Of course, there is a huge different between a DJ who just plays songs, and a DJ who takes pride in creating live remixes and taking the dance floor on a journey. Now in my situation, I don't have the luxury of getting attention when I'm done for the night. Because as soon as I turn the music off, the bouncers quickly clear the club out. I'm leaning toward the "instant # close" though. Is there a way to do that so quickly without sounding overly AFC'ish? I mean saying something like "As you can see I have to get back to controling the dance floor, but leave me your number so we can have a real conversation later." |
