Post subject:  do not drink at a college party

I am in college, and do not drink. I am a cadet at my school and drinking is not tolerated if you are under 21, so i do not drink at all. Well, when i go to parties i feel left out because i can not play any drinking games or anything. Tonight was really bad because that was what everyone was doing. So how can i go out and still have a good time in situations like this? i usually say "i am having a good time without drinking" and that is ok, but tonight a lot of people kept trying to get me to drink. so any ideas on how to play it off? i am thinking "girls take advantage of me when i drink" or something? I just dont want to come off as a buzz kill. i do not want to lie and say "i am a dd" or have soda and say it is mixed. any ideas are appreciated

There's no need to be ashamed that you don't drink, and why lie about it. Why do you have to qualify your actions to them?

The "I don't want you to take advantage of me" angle would work well. Just try and start hitting sets, and the fact you don't drink wont pop into their heads once you're the centre of the set.

Make it clear that you got bigger priorities in life than getting thrashed at a house party. Be the DD, you can use this as a major DHV, and a good training opportunity in BEING a leader.

Most importantly, like ajberry said, don't qualify yourself. Have a good time. College parties are great for practicing openers. Damn near anything goes and there's usually a bunch of people to work with. Also a great place to practice routines, magic tricks, etc.

Be social, have a good time, and only let yourself determine what that is.

Organize them....If you have the booze you would be the cool guy that starts the drinking games.

If you start them, no one is going to ask you to play, and if some one does you can always say something like:

"Hey I cant drink, if I get drunk...who is going to keep an eye on you guys?"

or:

"Im the rofficial referee of this drinking contest, I have to mantain this thing impartial...you are not tricking me to get the trophy!!"

Besides, no HB has ever invited me to play one of those games, people gets drunk cause they cant get laid.

Not drinking at a college party is a MAJOR DLV . It makes you look lame and unfun. Drinking at a college party = fun = sex. I've had many many great college party nights that started with drinking and drinking games then ended with hot naked women.

College parties are not about being verbal, running game... you don't need game to get laid at a college party... it's called be fun, get drunk, get laid. Verbal game doesn't work when people are too retarded to understand the words that are coming out of your mouth.

That being said if your not going to drink you've honestly only got 2 options that aren't huge DLV at a college party. 1. DD, this is the reason your not drinking because you care about your friends. 2. Drink soda, drink anything and pretend there's alcohol in it. Either of those options is a DHV.

Sure some people get drunk and don't get laid but frankly anyone who is fun and drunk at a party has a good shot at getting laid. I've seen drunk blithering idiots bang hb10's . It happens, don't fool yourself. Just as your standards may change when your drunk, so do women's standards change. Also some women are "horny drunks" , it's like a gimme.

Its always best to be clear minded when out where there are potential sets......I watched myself drink so much back in the day to get over AA....being sober in my mind gives you a huge advantage over any competition

1. DD, pretend your the designated driver this is the reason your not drinking because you care about your friends. 2. Drink soda, or drink anything and pretend there's alcohol in it. Either of those options is a DHV.

Neither of these options involve actually consuming alcohol so it will not risk your scholarship.

He said he didn't want to lie about something like being a DD. Man, I have never read a rule in drinking games that says 'you may only participate if your drink is alcoholic'.

You don't need to get soda and pretend it's mixed. Just get a soda, and drink that. Everyone needs liquid, why can't yours be non alcoholic? Anyone who gives you shit about it can get fucked. Sure it's easy to say, but it's the only thing there is to it. Play the games, have a good night, and wake up the next morning hang over free, ready to ace your assignments. I admire your dedication to your school work buddy.

Typically drinking only hinders me. I Consciously notice the things I say and do getting more staggard and less smooth. I'm usually at my best after 2 or 3 drinks. My inhabitions are low enough to get wild, while at the same time my mind is working clearly enough to be witty and fun. If you don't mind being watchful for authority just nurse a beer all night. You won't get drunk and if police or some other authority figure comes you can just set it down and be safe.

I realize that's what he said but in a college environment he will come off as a tool if he's not drinking... that's just the fact. My advice helps him avoid being a tool... If I had a guy at my house party who wasn't drinking, I would throw his ass out the door with quickness if he wasn't a DD or had a good reason.

alright, i do have a good reason. like i said, i get $15,000 a year on a scholarship that will be taken away if i am caught drinking. i am part of a military program at my school, and we do get checked randomly when we get back to the dorms. so that is a good reason. i have never been thrown out for not drinking, and do not think i ever will. and sometimes i do end up driving even though i was not planning on it. so, if you are going to post an reply that says "you should drink anyways" don't waste your time. i will not drink, so just get off it.

That's one of the most superficial and shallow comments I have heard for a while. You despise people simply because they don't like to get shitfaced and make a cock of themselves? You're an awesome person man, way to go.

I had a buddy in colege, whom i worked with, who was a jesus freak...among other things he did NOT ever drink.

He was a good friend and would come to my parties but when people tried to get him to drink he'd simply tell them he doesnt drink, but is still having a great time.

At first we kinda harped on him and tried to presure him...but he stayed firm and eventually we stopped. Hed play beer pong if the partner would drint his drinks (i didnt mind..more for me).

Another things is he'd always be there when the party started (before everyone was trashed) and would leave when the party started to die down.

He musta felt wierd but he had his reasons for not drinking, they were valid enough to him, and he didnt care if other people liked that or not...he was content having fun and being social regardless...and people accepted that about him.
