They're not here now so I have this whole huge place for myself.
One of them has a company, so at times there are people coming in to work.
An employee of him has left me a note on the kitchen saying:
"could you please kindly manage to keep the kitchen in a decent state while J is on holidays. The minimum would be to throw the rubbish regularly and vacuum the floor.
Today two vases got broken because the window was left open. Me and N took care of it (...) please make sure that windows are closed to avoid it will happen again".
My first reaction was a fit of rage.
I've got a flu, I feel weak and swallowing hurts like crazy, I recently moved and don't have anyone here. It's a long story but because of previous mistakes I only have a very limited insurance, so I'm even scared I might get worse.
Cleaning the kitchen had been a big effort -yes I did try- and yes, I forgot the window open.
But this is my place, I'm paying for it, nobody asks them to check on me (would have been nice to ask how come I wasn't at work though and looked like hell!) and nobody even asked them to clean the place for me.
I was about to write back something pungent like "
thanks for telling me how to keep *my* place. Had I not been ill maybe it wouldn't have happened.
What do you think is a sensible reply that wouldn't destroy relationships?
