| Post subject: | 1 Second Sets |
I'm walking back to the University center on a cold, rainy day. Two girls are eating their food at a picnic table outside. Without thinking: "How are you guys eating out here, it's freezing!" They laugh. I keep walking - really feeling like a fun, sociable guy. Walking to a party, pass two girls walking the opposite way. Without thinking: "Party tonight!!!" "Wee!" She responds. "Wee?" I respond. They laugh. I keep walking. My confidence just a bit higher. 1 second sets happen spontaneously (without thinking) based on your current surroundings. They get you 100% in the moment, and they force you to let go of the outcome, and coach you into doing so more often. This isn't really a new concept, there are challenges and things saying to go around saying hi to people, complimenting people, and so on without initiating a long set, but I believe these are underrated in real experienced game. No matter how good you are, you shouldn't completely ignore one-second sets. |

YES. 60 Years of Challenge actually talks about making sure you don't avoid opportunities like this so you can build what he calls "social momentum." props |

Funny thing happened today to do with this whole "1 second set" thing. Me and a few friends are walking down the stairs at uni and I notice someone stuck behind us, I lean over and say something like "You should have overtaken us earlier." Turns out to be some girl I havent seen in like 6 years haha. Random comments to strangers are always fun, it's just a shared moment between 2 people who probably won't see each other (conciously) again. |

Try doing this to the first 5-10 sets you see as you walk into any venue. Ramps up your social proof, gets you into the social vibe, and makes the rest of your approaches much much easier. |
