"Even the right thing, when done for the wrong reasons, is the wrong thing"

My favorite quote ever. Natch, I forget who said it.

People around here are in the game for the wrong reasons. And when you have the wrong reasons, every thing you do right is dead wrong.

The big "wrong reason" I see is one that I was guilty of myself. It's the want for power and validation. Most everyone finds the community after some bad breakup or another. They do the right thing of trying to fix the problem, but they do it because they want to feel POWERFUL when they solve the problem.

The "right reason" is ENJOYMENT. You enjoy learning, you enjoy talking to girls, you enjoy making them feel sexy, and you enjoy sex.

Now, here's how this helps your pickup. If you have the wrong reasons, people (mostly women) sense this on some unconscious level, and are so much less willing to follow you and stay with you. That is because your energy is DISEMPOWERING ENERGY, and will suck energy away from the interaction.

When you have the right reasons, you can give and share EMPOWERING ENERGY, and women will naturally follow you, and will want to stay with you.

Although I'm not really a fan of vague, theoretical and somewhat-spiritual banter. I do think you're right. But if you say that the right reason should be enjoyment, I agree with that as well, does that mean you're saying that someone who's reason is empowerment, won't make it and reach is goal? It could be that lust for power is a bigger motivator than enjoyment, and isn't motivation what it's all about?

I would word this all slightly different, but pretty much to the same effect.

This is spot on. Nice one, Royal. It's what I've been trying to tell guys.

I like what is said but if we were to have a philisophical argument the only person that can decide what is the right and wrong is the person trying to get better at the game.

Before the effect one believes in different causes than one does after the effect.

The person with the wrong reasons may reach his goal. But he will work so much harder. It's like the difference between threatening someone so they give you money and asking them to donate to a charity. Which would you prefer? Sure, if they have a gun, you will probably give them money, but I think most people would prefer SPAM their money to make themselves feel good rather than being mugged.

Wrong reasons=threaten, Right reasons=charity. Basically, when you have the wrong reasons, you're fighting an uphill battle.

Haha, nice one. Ok, as to your philosophical question, I am currently defining "right" as being the reasons that will assist you in the game, and the wrong being the reasons that will hamper your progress in the game. I don't want to turn this into a morality issue: I want to help guys smooth out their game.

i love this post!

its too true.the reason i have joined the community is to sort out or tweat certain aspects of my game that will help me in the long run. I realise Kino is so fcking important - some DHV'ing is vital and the entire pre-selection,confidence and attitude always needs to be up.this place has opened my eyes completely!

i will not change the person i am but i will be alot more aware of my surroundings.
a women will tell from a million miles away if you coming across as a sarging afc who is on a mission to get laid 1213 times.

This could be part of my problem.

I am doing this because I enjoy socializing and talking to women, and I feel I always need to be improving myself.

I agree with Jelly. Right and wrong is subjective.

Who cares why people practice pickup? Whether it be therapeutic, enjoyable, competitive it doesnt matter. Everyone here clearly enjoys pickup, why else would we focus so much time and energy on it? It produces some sort of positive intrinsic pleasure to all of us.

Well, the main people who care about why we practice pickup are the girls. Strangely enough, they're the ones we're trying to pick up.

Be careful where you get your positive intrinsic pleasure. Is it from the feeling of power you get AFTER you fuck her, or is it as soon as you bust a nut?

I think ppl who are just starting out or havent fucked a lot of chicks think like this.
I dont get power from fucking a girl, or from knowing I can fuck a girl.
now the reason I enjoy pickup is for the pickup, I enjoy talking and such...I enjoy the game. sometimes I mite turn down a fuck cuz Im too tired, but I could have.
The game is the reason I learn more game now
