This is what i have noticed when calibrating myself infield. American people in general can get away with peacocking to the max (this is in no way bitter, hurtful etc.). For example mystery's beastly furry hat and massive boots etc etc. This in Britain will probably get you knifed. Wear cool, in fashion clothes but wear things that express you and peacocking e.g jewelery. maybe a cowboy hat. If say your at university you could get away with the fur hat, cus your having a laugh... but going to a pub with this on and watch your back lolol. Simon Cowell is loved by Americans, British and all over the world for his harsh comments on programs like the Xfactor. But us British don't really find what he says to be that bad! Whilst on American idol etc. the crowds like omfg! and the american judges are like, did he just say that? This is the same for Negs. In Britain a neg that is under the radar for example: i saw a girl wearing that dress earlier, may not be enough! So instead a more harsh may be used like "hey let me see your hands," "omg what?" they're really big... then a large grin proceeds. |

I will agree with this. I have to admit if I saw Mystery in a club or bar I'd just think he was a massive tit. I think the British mentality is more often that not to call a spade a spade or even be a bit more blunt. I know I'm quite blunt and have on this forum occaisionally been called 'rude', well by magnum45, though I have pissed off people here too by being that way with people. For me I don't like saying stuff I don't mean. |

I agree 90%, however just remember a neg isn't supposed to be an insult. It's supposed to be a backhanded compliment that makes her question herself and thus start qualifying herself to you. |

Fully agree that Mystery would get knifed. I've thought about it before |

I don't agree, I used to live in Newcastle and I've gone out dressed at least as crazy as mystery, I don't peacock in that way, those times I just dressed crazy for fun. Newcastle is a crazy nightclub town and you always see people "dressed for success" when you are out clubbing, I never met any attitude dressed like that and I never saw any one else (who was dressed up) get attitude either. Now I live in San Francisco, possibly the most open and accepting city in the world but in the rest of america people will call you a fag just for wearing tight jeans (a major generalization but there is scary much truth in it). |

hmm yeh. from i rethink of this thread i must admit the best thing to do is calibrate in your area to see what you can get away with. if your in a more rural area then peacocking isnt advised... well not to the max... but yeh nightclubs/inner city crazyness you can peacock all you want. as for simon cowell. watching some of his stuff your realize that he does give backhanded compliments too! |

I live in Newcastle now, I've gone out wearing a girl's scarf and no one has said anything, but if you looked like Mystery you would get weird looks at least. Only reason you wouldn't get started on is because people might think it fancy dress/

While i will admit i'm new, i have deffinitly done my fair share of peacocking and the key thing is attitude. I used to have an acting teacher tell me "don't appologize, whatever you fucking do don't say sorry" Well if you wear your peacocking effect appologetically then guess what girls will read that. The same goes for getting knifed i don't care what contry your in if you have that really dangerously confident look, people will believe you can back it up (and if not i hope you really can!). But ultimatly it's just attitude and confidence and thats the number 1 requirement for pickup. |

I agree with this guy. Neg's do work here it just depends on the level of insult. They are supposed to make her question herself so her confidence level drops.P.S Simon Cowell's peacocking works for him (high rise trousers, same hair style etc)! Not saying it would work for everyone else! |
