Post subject:  "Transcending Pickup"

Lately I've seen a lot of posts by guys who decided to "put aside pickup techniques" to start a relationship with a particular girl, whether because they felt they didn't need them anymore, or because they thought she was special and different from all other women.

The fact that after doing so they had to post on these forums to figure out where they went wrong should be evidence enough that this is very erroneous thinking.

For the most part, what's taught in the community isn't some set of rules and guidelines set up to manipulate reality--quite the opposite, it's a recognition of rules and guidelines that have existed longer than any of us, pre-dating even the ancient times when the seduction community consisted of a few kids in Canada trading e-mails about magic tricks.

Of course anyone who knows me will tell you, I'm certainly not defending specific gambits and routines. What I'm saying is that the principles those things are based on are never going to go away.

You read that right. They're never going to go away.

Put simply, pickup is a recognition of the way attraction works, quantified and codified as well as human beings are capable of. Feel free to shed all the gambits and routines in the world--in fact, I encourage it. But don't think you can put aside the principles they are based on and have consistent success.

This is as close to claiming there is an objective truth as you'll ever see me get, so I hope it helped you ;)

I think that should be "as well as people trying to water down the way attraction works to sell products are willing to explain it."

It seems PUA only focuses on type of attraction, since it doesn't explain a lot of situations where I've seen the guy get the girl. It seems to focus on the things that attract girls in a short amount of time.
That's actually a really good point, which is why at some point I intend to sit down and write out my "method," so to speak, for long-term interactions. I don't like the rush either :)

Oh yeah, and it will be as un-diluted as I can make it. And free ;)

The best analogy I have ever heard about all the different PUA "schools" of thought was as follows:
Each school of PUA is a map of their island, be it the club, mall etc. They show you all the different places on the map, how to get to each place and even a few short cuts!
The thing is, once you give one of their students in a new place, they don't have a map and get lost very quickly or just stop because they don't know what to do.

I think we should also try and adopt the mindset that will create these "guided actions" as a byproduct of our mindset.

Personally I believe the PUA skill sets to be social aides to help out in all facets of life, and not just a coat you put on when you want to impress women or get laid.

Well...out of all PUA stuff that I have read through so far I am only taking out things that I believe will work anywhere.
That is ¨what do women want? ¨how do they think¨?
And that can be applied the same way to a one night stand as it can be to a marriage.

I think David D has said it best, something along the lines of "pickup isnt just about meeting beautiful women, the techniques I teach will allow you to be attractive to a woman at any phase of the relationship." or something liek that.
