Listen to the radio, man. I swear by NPR, there's always something interesting that catches your ear at least once or twice a day. Manys a time I throw in little conversation-changers starting with "I heard a good one on the radio the other day..." even if it was something I heard a year ago. |

Talk about what you know, read, listen to the radio, have hobbies and travel. Also a good tip is to learn a little about a lot, I have benefitted greatly from knowing one or two things about obscure subjects (horse riding, regions within India etc). |

Learn the basics of a few languages, like hello, goodbye, please and thank you in Italian, Swedish, Thai, Spanish, and the language of any other chicks that you think are hot. |

This might sound gay, but get in touch with your emotions and talk about them using a lot of vivid and descriptive language. Don't look for too many intellectually stimulating topics to research and discuss. That's how you talk to other men. When it comes to women you want to be emotionally vibing instead of logically persuading or some shit like that. |

I'll play devil's advocate here, Chief. What if you don't find any enjoyment or stimulation in talking about your emotions? How can you congruently convey an attitude that doesn't scream "I'm just talking about this shit to impress you" if you don't actually want to talk about it? |

If you don't like talking about certain emotions, that's fine and normal. However, I'm sure that you have the ability to... feel a certain way about something enjoyable to you in a way that stimulates you, you know? Talk about that and you will be congruent by default since you already enjoy that feeling you're eliciting from within yourself, but mostly talk about those great feelings underlying the actual topic you're discussing. The emphasis is still emotional. |

- check out www.jimmyr.com and read the news headlines that interest you - just 5 minutes ago, this site lead me to reading a very interesting article about development issues in Dubai, and the article comes from a news network I never heard of. - read non-fiction books like 'mind wide open' by Stephen Johnson - But the MAJORITY of things I learn, comes from good conversations with people - especially when you are interested, ask questions and pick people's brains. |

I have a similar problem and have tried many things to combat it. I started keeping a planner with a "Notes" section in it so that I could write important dates down about people or myself in there, or write down other things that I just don't want to forget. This could easily be skimmed through and reviewed later. If you know you are going to see someone, say at a party or gathering, think up some things to discuss with them beforehand. Just every day things to get the ball rolling, from things they are into or things you have in common. Also try to remember anything major or out of the ordinary, like if they were in the hospital recently or something. As for websites, I have a bunch that I visit on a daily basis. I'm very into sports, particularly the Cavs, so I visit ESPN a lot and Cavs website. I'll also visit Foxnews and CNN, plus a local paper's website to get some current event news. I listen to radio talk shows a lot too, particularly Rover's Morning Glory. They have a website and put up news stories that they discussed during each show. Another one for different news is collegenews. They have a section for weird news that has some pretty interesting and different stories. Other than that, just keep up on news on stuff that interests you. That should be your primary concern. You might also try looking at TMZ and Gizmodo occasionally too. Hope this helps... |

you dont always need things to talk about, just ask the girl some questions and be interested in what she wants to talk about, share your opinions on what she's said, not your knowledge of the subject. Otherwise, talk about your current environment, i.e. people and things around you, play games with her. Josh |

This is a common phase dont concern yourself. I heard somoene further up suggest the radio. Great idea. The news - everything on the media thats big and recent. If its a female interaction - get a cosmopolitan magazine and read some of the articles. This will give you a clue to what females love to listen to. But on a larger scale (I always tell students this) - Think about yourself. List everything you can about you on a piece of paper. Aspects to your life, hobbies, ideology towards things - everything you can. You would have listed your family life, love life, social life - everything. Do you know all this information about her? The chances are if youve just met her - of course not. So fucking find out. Use open ended statements - or just ask. I want you to use this attitude. If you know everything about her - then there is everything to talk about. If you know nothing about her - then there is everything to find out. Everything inbetween is just a journey, so enjoy the ride. |
