Post subject:  THE FUTURE OF THE COMMUNITY?

So it looks like this community could be revealed to the mainstream sooner than we think

Mystery is going to star in his own VH-1 show this August
------------------------------------------------------------

That's right......... I said it! ;-)

(Did I get that right, Erik? Oh don't start!)

"The Pickup Artist" is VH-1's newest reality show... and it
features our own Mystery, co-starring VA Co-Founder Matador
as well as VA master instructor J-Dog.

In the eight-part series, they do what Venusian Arts does
best: transform a bunch of "nice guys with likable, quirky
personalities who have trouble asking women out"... (That
quote is from the VH-1 casting call, by the way.)

Well, I personally met the student who "won" the show... the
best of eight guys who survived weeks of "grueling" training
and selection by Mystery himself.

Let me tell ya, "asking women out" is not one of his
problems any more!

Can't really say much more than this...

...except for that "minor" scheduling detail:

------------------------------------------------------------
The show has been bumped up from "fall" to August 6th!!!
------------------------------------------------------------

Pardon the exclamation points but that little detail is the
part that got ME excited.

Do you realize that our upcoming MYSTERY SPECIAL TRAINING
events will overlap the pre-show promotion and the actual
airing of the show?

Yeah we had no idea, either, thank you very much.

But that's sometimes how planning decisions are made at big
television networks.

They liked the show so much, they wanted to get it out
sooner rather than later.

Fine.

Ross Jeffries sold out long ago. Neil Strauss has milked the community. Wayne Elise did a reality TV show in the UK.

We're fine. Put the panic button away.

Yes, agreed Style sold out writing the game, Jugglers UK show wasnt really focusing on PUA but more about 'dating help'

This will be a full blown PUA on TV which will result in tens of thousands new members eager to learn

As VH-1 begins promoting the show in July, thousands of tv
viewers will discover Mystery and VenusianArts.com for the
first time...

And as the show itself begins airing August 6, add hundreds
of thousands of new Mystery fans, probably bringing our Web
server down altogether...

Remember, people will actually SEE Mystery, Matador and
J-Dog train eight "quirky guys" to become REALLY good with
women... "Mystery good"
I really hope the UK doesnt get word of this!!!!

not like many people watch VH-1 anyway, so dont worry. It'll be right up there with "flavor of love" and crap like that, itll be passed over by most people, and its nothing worse than say Neil and mystery foing onto talk shows that many many more people watch

You're worried about more people joining the community? I'm not. I have my own material; I don't need canned goods from the forums.

Anyone who has achieved any level of success in pick-up has nothing to fear from noobs. We get an influx of new people every day... This forum has 7000 members!

Don't worry about it. Mystery's good (really, really good), and it sucks that he's SPAM (to a home audience) something he has guys pay for. Personally, I look forward to seeing it on YouTube. Mystery's a character.

Its lame. But its not the end of the world, there have been dozens of "pick-up" movies in the past. And the community continues to flourish without disruption. Nothing this blatantly direct yet, but I know personally, I will be fine.

Could it ruin the community? Quite possibly.
Is the community on its way there anyway? Quite certainly.

To be honest I think it will endager most in the community, imagen if on TV u saw that there was a way to be pick up women that proceded ur apperance and fincial status, im sure a shit load of people would do a little online research and before u knw it the cube and best friend test will replace pick up lines, just like in the past where u didn't think u could improve ur apperance, than dye came out and make up and even coloured contacts also just like lifting wieghts and having a balanced diet exploded in the 80s, everyone did a bit and improved but only few that devoted a lot of time and effort truly had perfect bodies, my point is that now that we have conquered our psychical acspect in every way, social dynamic is next, so ye its quite possible these methods will be popularized but if ur like me and our devoted to becoming a great pick up artist it won't realy affect u, fck the cube, pick up a book on palm reading, take a salsa lesson, go the extra mile if u realy want to float and be a big fish, I knw mystery, style and others were sell outs but maybe its for the better it will help the -devoted PUAs-!! get that much better and create new schools of thought, well anyways thats what I have to say on the issue

I think it'll be fine. People have been getting laid for years. Nothing can change that.

I put a little more thought into this. I'm glad Mystery is selling out, unfortunately for him it will ruin the community he has had so much influence over in the past years. The community will be forced to change and adapt to this new and final explosion of popularity. It will be over run by even more clue-less men than at the current time. Resulting in a overall massive decline in the authenticity of a PUA, people everywhere will be using these already played-out and over used techniques. In turn, forcing the real PUA's to adapt themselves to the changing times and create new, more advanced and effective methods. Where will this leave most of us? I can't tell you. Where will this leave me? I'm not going to tell you. Like we already established, its not the end of getting laid. However, I do predict a massive change in the not only the perception of the PUA by others, but hopefully a positive change for the dwindling phenomenon of the PUA that was once full of radiant, creative, and original energy, but now is turning into nothing more than the newest mainstream pop-culture money-mongering self-serving fad.

Or maybe not? Who the fuck watches VH-1 anyway?

Post subject:

Last? Did you say "final explosion of popularity?" I don't think it'll be final at all.

There will be more. New gurus will come up, preaching their own methods that aren't as popular as Eric's. Old gurus are going to boom and then bust as their methods reach the mainstream.

Where will it leave the community? Different. Where will it leave me? Different. If you're not cool with adaptation, you don't deserve to be here.

Incorrect word placement. I meant new and latest, if you couldn't tell by my reference to continuation and adaptation.

Wasn't directed at you, bro. I know you're a survivor. There are a few on this forum, though, that wouldn't know their ass from their elbow without someone writing a post on it...

Post subject:  What are people afraid of anyway?

I think I am the first one to put up my hand guiltily and admit to running the jealous girlfriend opener on a freshly approached set.
But when it comes down to it PUA isn't about lines and gimmicks.
Any decent PUA will have the confidence, social proof and attitude to get laid even when the whole world decides to turn to the PUA gurus.
I am having trouble understanding just what anyone is afraid of. Mystery will reveal techniques that you use from time to time? I will keep this short, but if you are a half decent PUA girls are not going to know that you are actively running game on them. Even a whole influx of noobs into this 'community' isn't going to affect how the PUA's go about things.
Besides. What exactly is this 'community' anyway? It is a bunch of people communicating through forums. People say that the 'community' is going downhill and going to implode upon itself. But how is that possible? Will all the forums just go down simultaneously and leave confused aPUA's in the lurch?
I honestly think people are overrating and glorifying the connection we all have with one another. I mean people on this forum I think are great people. Hell, if I met anyone of you guys out in a bar I would be the first to buy you a drink. But if I couldn't communicate with PUA's again in my life I would simply get out there and pick up like I have always done. Adapt to the situations thrown at me.

This post has been a little long-winded. I guess the point I am trying to make is, What the fuck is everyone worried about?!!?

Being a college student, this is going to suck. Everyone here watches vh1. You can walk down the street, yell out "FLAVA FLAVE!!!" and everyone will yell back, "YEAH BOIII!!!!!! WORRRRRD!!!" i'm dead serious. there are constant conversations about surreal life, i love the 90s, etc.

I'm going to have to do some major brainstorming for new material. What could possibly replace the cube?

Any other DHV could replace the cube, assuming that Mystery is even going to be teaching it...
