| Post subject: | Fuck Resolutions. Set a GOAL. |
Resolutions never work. They focus on the negative (i'll stop smoking), and give you vague measures of success (i'll learn how to meet women). They also can fuck you up when you get too crazy and audacious and talk about too many things that don't even make sense, or things you don't really want (i will get six-pack abs and date 1000 women from 38 different countries and start an online business that makes $2000 a week while working 4 hours a week). So let's act like men, shall we? For this year, pick ONE thing you really want, and are willing to work for. Make it specific. Numbers are good. Dates are good. One specific action you will take right now to start it is good. Put the picture in your mind, and WRITE IT HERE. As you know, the things you think aren't real. But the things you SAY, the things that you make other people here, become real. I'll go first to show you how simple it is. I will get my weight below 100kg by December 31, 2009. I am starting now by following The Warrior Diet and resuming regular workouts (5x weekly) at the gym and walking every day. Who's next? Pick anything. Women, health, money, sex, women, sex, or even women and sex! http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post ... id=3198647 if you'll excuse me, i'm off to the gym. |

I will rid myself of all my debt aside from student loans by August and not end up with negative balances in my accounts again after that. |

oh, one simple stupid trick. phrase things in the positive, not the negative. "i will have a positive balance sheet." |

I am going to find myself this year. I am going to enjoy it, and make it prodactive. I am going to fitten my body a bit, try to get deep in the PUA world, and develop skills of my own. I hope I'll hold up to those words =] |

This may not be exactly what you're looking for, but it's something I discussed post-party with my best friend last night, and it's the best goal I can think of right now. When it's time to make a call on what my group of friends is doing for the night, responsibility for picking an activity, setting a time and controlling the logistics always seems to fall on my shoulders. In the past, I have fought this natural force and insisted that other people occasionally take a more proactive role in determining our activities for the night. If I completely back off and let someone else control everything, we will sit around BSing and do nothing all night. So, this year I'm going to stop fighting it and embrace my role as full-time decider for the group. The one caveat to this is other peoples' parties I get invited to; but even then, I will not rely solely on whatever plans they've made. |

I am going to save up enough money where I can afford a Car and have money to have fun. I will also Maintain ~ 150lbs and work on bulking up. I will continue to learn and embrace all this wonderful PUA material. As an added bonus, I am going to cut down on my cussing as a lifetime goal |

VERY cool post, sean. i'm not really big on new years resolutions, honestly. i make goals when i see the need to do so. A goal is a dream with a date attached. that is something that my dad used to say a lot when i was trying to figure out what i wanted to do with my life. it wound up helping me a lot. basically, turn your dreams into realities. set baby step goals, reach those, award yourself, and keep going. success is addictive, and you will do better if you set reachable goals that lead to a bigger goal. ie: "i will quit smoking!" breaks down into "i will smoke no more than 1 cig a day for a week." and then you keep on going. goal: i will have my band together by june for a recital at a local venue. (baby step: i will set up rehearsals and practice on my own every week) |

Since we have an epidemic of people playing my game by their own rules, let me restate the rules. And if you don't like them, don't play. 1. List ONE goal. 2. Assign a metric of accomplishment (specific, measurable). 3. Assign a date it will be done by. 4. List one action you will start taking TODAY to make this happen. 5. Post regular updates to the forum about your progress. Do these things, and there is nothing reasonable you cannot do. Don't follow them, and you are still basically dreaming like an idiot child who wishes he could fly. You can't fly. But you can sure as fuck start walking. So... walk hard. |
