False confidence is better than none in the field, but not in the classroom.

It is true that you do need confidence in the field. If you don't have it...fake it...it can still work for you.

But when you are learning, there is no need to keep up those protective walls here. Most everyone is, or has been in the same situation as you so there is no need to display false confidence here. To me, posts about bragging display false confidence...like you are trying to prove your worth to people here. Be humble and when you receive advice from others (solicited or unsolicited), just listen. You can choose whether or not to accept it but just listen and don't portray falso confidence here because it will only prevent you from establishing true confidence.

Just a thought...take it easy guys

Leave your ego at the door. If your map of the world says that you are indeed this great player and conveying this to everyone, then you are pushing people away from arrogance as well as creating an ideal that you will never live up to. You will fear failure and rejection much more (consequently greatly holding back your game) because receiving that would mean that your map is wrong.

I'm developing a crush on Bonita with all her wicked posts lately. If only I could make good topics rather than just decent replies!

B hit the nail on the head here guys. Take a look around and ask yourself who the guys are that you think have their shit handled the best and who knows the most and has the most success on here. The guys who's names you come up with are most likely gonna be the same guys who's names I come up with and they constantly open up and allow themselves to be vulnerable and expose everything going on inside their heads.

I've told people that anyone who wants to get to know me better should read the stuff I've posted on here. I've opened up and shared stuff that I kept private for most of my life and some stuff that I still don't share with people, but as a result I've also advanced farther than most guys who work on learning this stuff ever do. You can far far better than me if you just push yourself and don't try to act cool and just openly admit your short comings and don't get offended when people give you constructive criticism.

Wicked post, I love getting to know people on the forums and letting people know me. I was thinking last night that some of the people I trust most in this world are effectively a few letters and a small picture but they have helped me more than people I have known for years.
As for confidence mine is weird at the moment, I have always been outgoing but that is not the same thing as being confident. I hated people for a lot of my life and so had no need to seek their validation and could do or think whatever I wanted but now that I care about people its a little strange. But I'm working on it and I am getting my inner game bible back in a few weeks woop woop :)

Im liking this post bonita. A certain someone springs to mind actually.
I dont think that the reason they display false confidence is them wanting to validate themselves to us, more a self reassurance thing. In some cases caused by wanting to escape the life that they are currently obliged to living.

great post Miss B. If you are here to try to impress other forum members you are not doing yourself a favor. like my old post before. Ego's always come into play. If you are here for some advice you are gonna get criticised. Just take it, You are here to Improve yourself. theres alot of Awesome people here that will give you good advice. Dont take it as a diss or flaming (unless it really obvious) Just read and learn. Expand your mind. These are diffrent opinions from many many people. What work for someone else might not always work for you.
