I've always found motivation in proverbs. That's what they're there for, after all. Here is a list of proverbs I've compiled and how they relate to the community, your learning curve, and um... yeah, just read and be wise. Most of this stuff addresses the most important part of why we're here - getting shit done. So many guys seem to be reading material and going through it in their heads and not actually doing anything with it. Life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved - Get your ass out and live it. 'Nuff said. Don't count the days, make the days count. Constant dripping wears away the stone - Think positive and act before the dripping can begin. The more you go through scenarios in your head and worry about what can or might go wrong, the longer you wear away that stone and make it harder on yourself. If you see a girl you like, act on it immediately. Bitter pills have blessed effects - You may not feel comfortable with certain aspects of approaching or escalating. This is normal; deal with it. The more you step outside your comfort zone, the easier it becomes. Swallow that pill and reap the benefits. The trouble with experience is that by the time you have it, you are too old to take advantage of it - You have the opportunity to go out right now and get that experience. Stop putting it off. I had no shoes and complained, until I met a man who had no feet - There is always someone worse off than you out there. Stop making excuses for your procrastination. Do not look where you fell, but where you slipped - Calibration is important. Focus on the mistakes you made so you may avoid them in the future. A lot of guys focus on the outcomes of the mistakes they make, rather than how to avoid making them a second time. Don't let your mistakes hold you back; embrace them. The ass loaded with gold still eats thistles - Whatever your situation, you are guaranteed to have the same problems regardless of change... the only change you can make which means anything is getting your ass out there and putting your knowledge to work. Let's face it, if you suck with girls and have no money, you would also suck with girls if you actually had it. Money is not the problem. Not having your own place is not the problem. Not being able to drive is not the problem. You need to get your ass out there regardless of all that stuff. He who makes no mistakes, makes nothing - As above. It's inevitable that you're gonna do shit wrong from time to time... you must be prepared for this and realise that in order to progress you must be willing to make errors. Nothing that is worth knowing can be taught - I can talk all day about theory and why this works. I can give example after example and break everything down into the most detailed and complex terms you can imagine. But you will not learn it if you do not experience it. Too many cooks spoil the broth - A lot of guys have read so much material, and have so much variety at their disposal, that they don't know what to use. They ask what the best method is without realising that the methods which work best for them are not necessarily those of the guys around them. Try one method at a time before you try mixing and matching, that way you will know which parts of each method work for you as an individual and can put it all together more efficiently. Borrowed garments never fit well - Canned material is fine for beginners as it helps get over AA and gives them a plan so they don't run out of things to say. However, you need to get past it and develop your own stuff. The key to this is simply knowing what you want from women. I, for example, find a sense of humour similar to mine very important. Know what you want and set about finding if she fits the bill. None of this "beauty is common" crap... you want her to volunteer information that is actually important to you. It's better to aim high and miss, than to aim low and reach target - Go after the girls you want, and settle for nothing less. Sure, you might aim high and miss for a while, but you're gonna get on target sooner or later and that's far better than settling for second best right off the bat. Nothing is interesting if you are not interested - Standards, for crying out loud. There is more to people than meets the eye and if a girl doesn't do it for you with regards to personality, don't keep her around just because she's hot. I hope you've all found some motivation amidst this stuff. I was thinking of ways to motivate a friend of mine and started writing, and decided I'd share it with all of you aswell. There's something about proverbs that just clicks instantly in your head and gives you a sense of realisation. Maybe next time you're in field, instead of negative thoughts you might usually have, one of these will come into your head instead and inspire you. |

Nice post, another proverb i think i really important not just in relation to the community, but to life in general A chain is no stronger than its weakest link I dont really think this one needs explained. We all have weaknesses, and playing to your strengths is great, but at some point your going to have to address certain aspects of yourself. |

Nice post man. However, I've always interpreted the above proverb differently: persistence will eventually break away even the most imposing obstacle. Every day, try something new and make a little progress, and the biggest problem or challenge can eventually be chipped away. In the case of pickup, keep making approaches, and problems like AA or running out of things to say can be worn away - every approach gets you further along the way.I guess that either way you look at it, each interpretation has something to teach. |

thanx for the motivation alot of these relate to me. I find it difficult getting over AA but hopfully this will help me to approch and learn by doing instead of sitting at home on the internet going over this stuff for hours and not doing anything about it. Thankyou El Cooperino |

Great post. I have heard most of these before. But i still need to hear it. The line about the shoes is a constant reminder to me anyway. I came into the world without them and i will probably leave it without them. But at least i have my feet. There is always somebody worse of than you. |
