Post subject:  Took a break from opening/gaming

This post continues from another.

Did a lot of traveling around in the last 4 years and I just arrived to a new city in Asia little over one month ago. I knew a few "work related" people but other than that, I didn't know anybody socially. So I began the social network game the very first night I arrived and just ran with it. And the twist here is that unlike any other major city I've been to, there really is absolutely NO outdoor/fun stuff to do here. The weekends begin on Wed and rolls through Monday.

Anyhow, I just went on this "social blitz" and couldn't figure out a balance until I stopped opening for a few days. Instead, I just put some energy into the friends I've already made. . . and I made a lot . . . Within a 1 month period, right now, I have a cool buddy who's a great wing and a few back ups(Not any better or worse but they live far away or travel too much). 2 girls live in the same complex and we have lots of fun together. 2 other girls live 20 min away and they come over often. 2 other girls live 30 min away and my wing's kinda getting the oneitis with one of them. I dropped 1 girl into ljbf territory and I still hang out with her. 1 girl, I hurt badly (unintentionally of course) and I'm trying to at least make it up to her. (she came out for coffee last weekend). 1 waitress is a ton of fun but always working. And loads of ppl just lost in transition.

So I've been doing the typical AFC thing . . . I called one particular girl up, "Hey, wanna do dinner and a movie at my place?" Eat dinner, chat, then turn the movie on but never bothered seeing the movie. . . and when that movie was over, put in another random dvd (I've got to get some dvd's with lots of mellow sound tracks) And I helped a buddy move to a new apartment. Not that this has anything to do with anything but it was cool just being appreciated as a good friend. I feel more mellow . . .

Any name for this "other" person, so that they get the credit?

Ha ha . . . to be fair, I did wake up from that "2nd example" from Halloween night out at the club and mouthed to myself, "I gotta stop this shit . . ." And that's why I wrote "I gotta take a break".

But yes, RYE LEE'S post made did make an impression . . . except the part about "terminology". I mean . . . without it, my posts would be 10 pages long. When I chat with my fishing buddies, I don't tell them to "tie a loop, go 18 twists down, 18 back up, thread it back into the original loop and wind it back up. Then take the looped end, twist it, thread it into the loop and flip it a few times. " Instead, I tell them, "Tie a bimini twists and a offshore loop . ."

Same with my scuba dive buddies, snowboard buddies, motorcycle buddies, guys in the band, etc . . . and can you imagine chatting in a business meeting and telling ppl every time, "So all the incoming money divided by all that you owe or have leveraged or obligated to is xx%?" No . . you just say, "ROL". . .
