I made the mistake of when I first started out using DHVs / other topics that people like Mystery used... "your like my lil sister" ... "I'm a performing artist"... I had no problems until recently. It was a freakin' dumb move to think I could just use these kind of phrases and not get called on it... sure I had stock responses like "oh I'm a magician/illusionist" which I can back up because I can do magic and illusion but then theres this whole problem that when you get into the C phases if they ask you about work... you cant then turn around and say "well actually magic is my hobby i work in insurance" or whatever your job is without taking a massive DLV spike... because then the HB is thinking "oh right well he was cool but hes now like most other guys" I made a similar mistake on a recent Day 2... she goes "so hows your sister" and I just responded with "who? I dont have a sister" and things kinda went to pot from there... But it was a learning experience. The point I was trying to get to was to ask for some advice about what kinda things you can do to DHV yourself if your at a crap point where things like career/family arent fruitful. I'm lucky enough to be a police officer and so it gives me a talking point but because im still in training and not actually out working theres no "horror" stories I can think up... I'm just at this stage where lets say... I go through the A, C and S phases, decide this isnt a quick 'shag and bail' and end up seeing this girl on a more regular basis... There is going to come a time when shes going to meet a friend thats not a wing, or someone I know, or family and go "So he told me about this job he went to as police and..." or "he told me about this exotic dancer he dated" and gets the response "oh hes in training so he hasnt done that yet / dated who? " Basically I'm a bit stuck that I have a couple of "cool" DHV moments in my life but am struggling to find more points because until the recent last 12 mths I had a crap, boring lifestyle, in a job i hated. So yeh just looking for some insight here to pick my back up after this recent flop! Cheers |

Well one thing you can deffinately do is change your lifestyle. Start going out and doing more interesting things. Pick up a new hobby, learn a new skill whatever. I think the reason that your job is a DLV is because you aren't saying it in a positive enough light. If you say "Yeah I'm an insurance agent" then people are going to think about all the boring aspects of insurance (suit and tie, desk, phone calls). Instead what you should do is say it in a more fun interesting way. Maybe you could say something like HB: So what do you do for work? PUA: I help predict the future by selling people protection from the "what if's in life" No idea how good that is, but you get the idea. |

This is a problem I've faced too. You've got to crack some eggs to make an omelette, and sometimes DHVs require white lies to get you past a girl's initial screening so that she can get to know the real you. The key is to not use DHVs that are obviously going to come around and bite you or become time bombs. Instead of saying you have a little sister, say "You're just like my buddy's little sister. Ok, that's it, you're my little sister now." Instead of talking about your adventures in Europe say, "Have you ever been to Germany? Some friends of mine were going this summer but I already had made plans to go to the beach with my family." Notice how all of these have subtle DHVs threaded in them. In short, find a middle ground with DHVs. Be willing to embellish little things, but don't fabricate an alter ego that is going to ruin things if you decide to take it further from a one nighter. |

You told a girl she was like your sister and you don't have one? Common sense, holy shit. If you haven't got a sister replace that with cousin or just a random girl you know. |
