Most of the guys that I know that are into pickup do it because it's fun. Sometimes it may get a bit competitive but at the end of the day it's about being able to enjoy yourself and have women in your life. While I fully understand that a guy that has a hard time getting a woman or women may look at it a bit more technical and try to figure out "hows", "whys", and "should I" type of information while learning, it's these guys that call themselves top tier PUAs that dissect bullshit in order to make discoveries that confuse me. That's not what pickup is about. That's not fun. Fun to me is going out and enjoying what I'm doing and if I see a girl that I find attractive, I can walk up to her and be confident enough to know that I will make a connection. When I do make the connection, things tend to be natural from that point on because I'm not afraid of being able to enjoy myself with a girl and present myself as a sexual option. If she enjoys my company while I'm being that sexual option then most of the time she's going to take that option. To me, that's the essence of pickup and it's fun. What is it that make some of you go off the deep end where you're more about creating a perfect technique if you always end up in the same position as the guy that can go out and have fun without putting in 1000's of hours of study? |

Insecurities, mental issues. And when I say mental issues I don't mean "psycho", I mean people with a rough background, hard to deal or absent families, people constantly looking for validation in number of girls, gym, achievements, whatever. That's also the reason why I stopped gaming, while I don't consider myself a master in it, I'm decent of it and had in sept/opt 3-4 girls on rotation and having fun, but in the end I still worry about validation and I still end up being needy, but that's due of my past, I just can't help it that easily. I need a break from women and take care of myself first, now I would date only somebody if I'm really into her emotionally/psychologically, but not for the sake of adding a number or having fun, as I'm not into that mood right now. |

I do agree, but I put in the study time, I genuinely see these as tools and assets that I can use at work (communication, understanding, influence, etc.), in general, my body language skills helped me win poker tournaments, I am a geek and love learning. So I learn very in depth because it's just kind of how I am.... That said I'm a firmly believe in putting in the effort that makes you better every day. Does this mean that you shouldn't be having fun? NOPE, fun is a necessary part of pick up, if it feels like a job then you're doing it wrong. Fun is contagious and a necessary aspect of growth in pick up in my opinion... that said if I want to get good at pool I don't go to the bar and shoot pool with guys who don't know anything. I go find ways to learn and get better, this happens through tracking progress, deliberate practice for improvement. I feel the same about pick up, if I want to improve at Pick Up, I have to do the things that make me better. Does this mean everyone should go read a stack of books? ABSOLUTELY NOT! I personally love learning, and have a few book shelves I've filled because I enjoy learning, 1 shelf is almost completely on self-improvement, dating, body language, tools and ideals on dating... so basically all pick up related. However I see these as improving me in so many ways that I don't see it as just me trying to get better with women, for instance I just began a job in sells and now I'm very natural talking to people. I build rapport with ease, read people with ease, and now my only issue is that I need to know my product and services, which is world's better than most people's beginning where they have to master people, product, services... it's also helped me in my current job as a Manager managing people and managing customer issues. I think that's one of the big reasons when I did coach once upon a time, I would tell them just to go up and start a conversation... and it's cool if you're bad at it, most of us are it will just feel natural to them if both parties are somewhat nervous. The thing is picking up women should never be just about fucking more women... you should never be that shallow. It should be about improving yourself and social skills. If it's about simply becoming the best you shining forward and you being aware and skilled enough to take advantage of the avalanche of opportunities that will come to you. And as you do these things you are going to have a fun and awesome experience doing pick up but you also have to be aware of set backs and be ok with them as that's simply a part of growth... nothing worth doing is really really easy... but it's worth the effort and it's worth trying to improve your skills and yourself for the sake of you. |

As the guy who leans towards pickup in a technical sense, that doesn't have a link to a site selling shit on his profile, maybe I can help.Fun to me is going out and enjoying what I'm doing and if I see a girl that I find attractive, I can walk up to her and be confident enough to know that I will make a connection. When I do make the connection, things tend to be natural from that point on because I'm not afraid of being able to enjoy myself with a girl and present myself as a sexual option. What is it that make some of you go off the deep end where you're more about creating a perfect technique if you always end up in the same position as the guy that can go out and have fun without putting in 1000's of hours of study? First, I'm just better able to understand things with structure. And there is enough info out there that you can develop a structure to meet women and be in the best position to hook up. Second, for me pickup is a hobby. I'm just geeky enough to enjoy being analytical. I play tons of card games from poker to magic the gathering. So being heavy on analysis doesn't automatically mean it's life or death. Finally, I see the "well if it happens it happens, so long as I'm having fun" perspective as not fun. I didn't need pickup to learn how to have fun, that I have had down for years. For me it's seeing the prettiest girl ever standing in line at a cvs and wanting to meet her. And sure, I will shake off rejections easy, hell a lot of them are funny. But I'm also driven to succeed. It comes up all the time here, being focused and driven in results when it comes to fitness, finance, mental health. But the moment you want to get laid that gets replaced with "whoa hey there's more to life than that." And I find it very often to be a copout. I wanna be great at this, and other things, but this is definitely on the list. My two cents. |

I have always been fascinated by psychology and women. PU arts is where the two collide. I would study it in prison with no females. However I always enjoy myself more in the field. Wish I had more time to get out and approach. |

I guess it can't really be fun if you're not good at it. Most people end up here with hopes and dreams of laying VS models within two weeks of being exposed to Mystery's show. I kinda get it though. If people want magic shortcuts there's gonna be other people wrapping up bullshit in pretty packages happily selling. |

I personally equate fun to being happy. A I have fun with this because being/having been with multiple women, makes me fucking happy! It’s hard to think this way. But I think lately many poor souls believe, wrongly that happiness correlates with silliness, lack of education, or stupidity. Some people wrongly are generally attracted to unhappiness in others. When confronted with fun happy people that are successful with the same task they are struggling with and it brings them down. Nobody likes to be alone in misery so they then feel obligated to bring others down with them. The happier you become with your successes the more they become frustrated. And of course, this forms a frustrating cycle. It's like they are working really hard studying the mechanics of swimming to stay afloat along the the ocean shore, but you yourself have realized the water is only 4' deep, and all you need to do is simply stand up. And you are content with the ease of standing up. They mock you for not helping them figuring out how to swim. Oops I just spilled my rum, excuse me. -Heywood |

Like I said, I'm all for expanding knowledge and understanding what you're doing. If you're going to be a coach or even write a book, it's understandable to keep digging deeper in order to know what you're talking about. It's even enjoyable to gain new knowledge. What's getting me is the overkill. Since a lot of guys use books as proof of concept, I'll break it down with the book The 80/20 Principle: The Secret to Success by Achieving More With Less. This discusses an important part of productivity. 80% of all your gains is going to be determined by 20% of what you do. When you take that into seduction and knowledge of it, 80% of what you actually know about women only 20% of it will actually matter to getting them. So there is a point of where you may become really good with women but there is going to be a point to where all of this extra knowledge, while it may be true, it's going to be useless information(I guess you may come across a virgin supermodel that's saving herself for marriage and you're looking for a one night stand with her, then all of that extra info will be worth something). |
