My membership in Phi Sigma Tau (national honor society in philosophy) obligates me to point out that this argument commits the fallacy of argumentum ad hominem. Such arguments are always invalid in syllogistic logic, since the truth value of premises is taken as given, and the validity of a logical inference is independent of the person making the inference. In other words, the background of the author has no logical connection to the validity of the information contained within the book.Does he sound like a credible authority on relationships to you?
