Women Find Men with a 10-Day Beard Attractive, Masculine: Study
10 day beard. No more 2-3 day stubble for me.According to a recent study, women prefer men with a 10-day beard over a clean-shaven face. The study was conducted by researchers from University of New South Wales who found that both men and women rated men with beards as more attractive and as people with high parenting ability. However, when it comes to clean-shaven faces, men and women fixed different levels of attractiveness; for women rated them the lowest, while men rated them just above men who had a light stubble. "Our findings confirm that beardedness affects judgments of male socio-sexual attributes and suggest that an intermediate level of beardedness is most attractive while full-bearded men may be perceived as better fathers who could protect and invest in offspring," the researchers wrote. Share This Story The study included 351 heterosexual women and 177 heterosexual men who were shown photographs of 10 men at different stages of facial hair growth - from clean-shaven to a five-day "light" stubble, 10-day "heavy" stubble (shown), and fully bearded. Study participants had to rate men based on health, attractiveness, masculinity and parenting ability, Science reported. Researchers also accounted for women's intake of birth control pills and menstrual cycle, which may affect their preference. The findings aren't entirely novel though. Back in 2008, a study from the U.K. had shown that women rated men with a stubble as tough, masculine, aggressive and ideal romantic partners for both short- and long-term affairs. Another study of women from two ethnic groups showed that beards augment the perception of men's age and status, and that beards made men look more aggressive. The study is published in the journal Evolution and Human Behavior. As far as my personal experience... So far I've been growing it out... I feel like I've noticed a good amount of looks from women. But it's still too early to come to conclusions. I'll give it another 2-3 weeks before I can say for sure. |

Good find. I have a short, 'well-kept', beard and have been told by many women that it's attractive. If it's groomed well, it will show you can take care of yourself. Plus, it adds masculinity. Generally I trim mine back to 3-4mm (neck) and 5-6mm (face) every week or so. Really easy and clean with this electric shaver I got online with an internal vacuum and a pair of barber scissors. Condition on a regular basis, I've noticed it get harsh/scratchy if you don't (not fun for the girl). - Lucas |

I think it adds masculinity because you look like a guy who's gets out there and takes a beating. Same thing as having beat up hands. Show's your a man and not some pretty boy bitch. Women want a man... |

Why leave it to chance/speculation? Just try both out and see which gets you better results. I suspect it depends on the person. For me personally, I have found little difference whether I have 10 day type stubble (which for me is 5-6 days of growing it haha) or clean shaven. |

The actual length is very dependent on the person, but I would generally agree that some form of facial hair will probably boost your chances. Me personally, I have to keep mine at a very certain length - too short and it's a bit too fine to notice, too long and it starts to go ginger and looks abit stupid as my head hair is fairly dark. But I much prefer my face with stubble than clean shaven - the job I'm in means I have to go clean shaven for quite long periods, and shaving every day wreaks havoc with my skin. Makes it so dry and dull. I think long beards are quite hard to pull off, but the 10-ish day stubble type look (or less if you've got dark hair) is pretty good look for most people. |

I think beards in general help out. Of course a well kept beard will give you more of a chance, but I've had a full on beard and there are women out there who love it. Just be confident in yourself and women will find you appealing. |

I just recently grew a beard and am delighted to suddenly see this topic. I find "10 day beard" a little ambiguous though. I've had mine for about 2 months and am keeping it short with a trimmer. I think the perfect definition would be "can grab it with your finger tips, but not with a fist." Anyway, I would really like to see more gentlemen with a beard. I think that men, and particularly men who think of themselves as attractive, are becoming more and more feminine, to the point where the traditional MAN is in danger. From my experience having a bit of facial hair has really changed me. I am no longer a child and a little more mature; it has changed the way I think far more than how I look. Guys, just grow a frickin' beard already. |

Omg so I go out with my tightened up beard right. I haven't gone to this bar all semester so I"m a bit tight. I'm not approaching... just standing along the dance floor with a bear... and fresh haircut. I'm watching... Out of no where this blonde bitch eye fucks me then backs her ass up on my dick. I'm like dayumn! I'm always the one initiating the dance when I have the balls too.. but this time it was her! And then I let my ego get the best of me and I thought I was too good for everyone and I didn't need to open and thought they should open me. LOL |

This is no secret it's been said in and out of studies for a long time. Beard wise it's also important to realize some of us can't grow beards.... for instance all I get is a neard... and I don't have connected hair all across my face, certain cultural backgrounds will struggle to grow a beard. I have a high amount of native American and Filipino, not exactly the thickest bearded folks. So don't grow a beard just because the study, be sure that YOU look best with one, if you can grow one I strongly support the beard though. As long as it's well kept. Peace and Love, Vic |

Try EVERYTHING, and see what works best for you. |

I've been growing a beard for the past 6 months, and I can tell you this: Women who I usually go out with and people in general have complimented me on it. Girls love it, and my successful approaches more than doubled when I got a beard and had it cleanly trimmed. Even my family says it looks more manly and sexier. |
