| Post subject: | Is Peacocking really worth it? |
I went out with a group of guys on Friday night. We stumbled across a kid who was wearing a top hat, some radically outlandish boots, and some sort of blinking light. Clearly, it was not the appropriate venue for that. Some of my friends can be very crude. After exchanging glances to seek one-another's approval, they let the kid have it with an onslaught of insulting comments. Not directly to his face, but enough to have the kid laughed out of the bar. I was unimpressed that my friends were being such assholes; thus, I did not comment myself. What is interesting is that this guy looked entirely normal (if you were to remove his Peacock gear). It was almost obvious that he watched The Pick-Up Artist on VH1, and wanted to try it for himself. So I ask, without offering a subjective opinion one way or the other, do you think Peacocking is really worth it? Does it really attract women in a positive light? This thread is open for your opinions. |

It depends on two factors.. which are inter-linked! Firstly it depends on how much peacocking there is, it could be an interesting belt, pair of shoes, hat, glasses, tie, or other assesories! I think the guy was clearly trying too hard to peacock, and in this circumstance - clearly it wasn't right for him. Secondly, as Mystery has shown us, sometimes you can be extremely extravegent with peacocking and if you have the confidence to pull it off then its going to work for you! Imagine if you and your friends saw that guy surrounded by girls all playing with his peacocking items... im sure he wouldn't have been pretty much laughed out of the club then! |

Agreed, but guys are assholes. They will hate any way they can. . .I think you said it right though, as long as you have enough confidence (and don't give a shit about what other guys think) then you shouldn't have much problem. I personally don't Peacock with anything too extravagent. But check this thread out. . .I'm going to start using this routine for sure! a-great-saturday-night-left-unfinished--vt16127.html |

I think you have to get the peacocking level right, for the place that you are in. I live in a small town with a definate small town mentality. The trick, i think is that you have to stick out from the usual crowd. If that crowd just wear hoodies and jeans, its not to hard. If you are in a city, surrounded by the more 'cosmopolitan', you have to go more extreme. In my area, just wearing a waistcoat over a cool, head turning t-shirt would be considered peacocking. Reading that back i just realised- I have to move, lol |

That's why you always have something better to say. It's part of the game. I have a bunch of responses for guys taking the piss out of my hat (which isn't that garish, admittedly, but I like to think of it as a peacocking prop)Second, the better you are, the better peacocking works. If you are a dude in a white cowboy hat and a pink furry vest slouched in the corner with your drink, you look like a jackass. If you are in the set commanding attention, you are the fucking man. So yes, peacocking does work. Quote: I think you have to get the peacocking level right, for the place that you are in.
Right you are sir. If you wear eyeliner to a club, you're the man. If you wear it in a pub, you're blatantly gay.

| Post subject: | Cool Peacock item |
I have recently been wearing a necklace like most PUA's as a peacock item. Girls always LOOK, ASK, THEN TOUCH it. Works like a charm! Its really cool! If anyone is interested in it and wants one get ahold of me...I made it and am thinking about marketing it. Mike |

The 2 factors reliant on your peacocking are venue and personal style. Nothing else matters. If your at a dive bar dressed to kill your gonna stand out but not get the reaction you wanted. Wear eye liner at a college party and you might get hazed lol. Also if your style is preppy but you wear some kinda goth like rings or neck peice...it wont look right. Peacocking depends on where you are going and what your style(s) like. For instance myself...i do not dress the way i do in my avatar for just anywhere...thats club atire. If im going to a college/house party i dress differently. I have actually come up with maybe 3 distinct style sets dependant on where i will be. They are all styles that im comfortable with and they dont contridict each other. Peacocking is a useful tool. It can be as subtle as a small peice of jewlery and nothing else, or it can be your entire outfit. |

Like mystery says... guys see peacocking as negative because you are a threat to there S and R value. But for full blown peacocking like that you have to be good because you need to be in sets and have social proof in the first ten minutes or your room will most likely be blown out. |

Hell yeah it's worth it. I don't go overboard though, as mentioned already you need to have a crazy amount of confidence and be a real party animal to pull off anything extravagant. I just go for an interesting necklace or something; it gives girls something to compliment you on and when that happens it's a great IOI. |

i said no. though i like to have an interesting necklace or rings, i dont do anything obnoxious that would be considered blatant peacocking. I see peacocking as a crutch to aid an incomplete personality, where because you are not confident in your game you feel that it is necessary to wear something that she will be more likely to comment on. again, its just my perspective, and i respect those who do peacock. alot of my friends do, but i feel that i need to look my best everyday, and dressing a clown will not get me the type of women that i am looking for. like david d says- "you wont find marriage or LTR material at a bar or club, and even if you do it will probably be a dysfunctional one" other than that, i think its comic, and provides very good entertainment when i go out with my friends. |

Actually a necklace and rings is peacocking. Just because it's not extravagant doesn't mean it's not peacocking. |

I'm not going to kick you in the balls for reviving a dead thread because I like your user name. I had a lolcat for my forum avatar once. I'm thinking about switching back to it.I'm locking this thread. If anyone actually wants to post here for good discussion, shoot me a PM... and I guess that goes for any dead thread that I or any mods lock... ...ahhhh what the hell. *kicks lolcats in the balls* |
