| Post subject: | Challenged to use pickup lines |
I was challenged by an AFC friend to use crappy chat up lines you know the sort "i'm not he best looking guy here but i'm the only one talking to you" or "are you tired because you've been running through my mind all night" Now normally i would just say no i'll stick with what works but i was double dared and the competitive child part of me thinks it has a point to prove. Am i being a knob or is this a worth while exercise? What you guys think? --> The challenge came about because when asked how i talk to girls i told him i just say "hi" (revolutionary i know) |

Yes, cheesy pick up lines have their place. The trick is to mood shift immediately, so the line is not the entirety of your personality to her, show her that you're multi-sided. I have a friend who loves to say "I'm from the FBI, I'm going to need your name, number and measurements." He has success, because he either diffuses the tension "That was cheesy, but I think it almost worked. Hi, I'm ___" and then teases for a minute that she must get that one all the time. Or he continues on like it never happened, "Just kidding. Hi, I'm ___" It's good to get rid of approach anxiety, and a certain flavor of girl actually prefers it over any other opener. |

As long as you're not being serious about it, it's going to be completely fine. In fact, pick up lines bring laughter. I sometimes purposely use them when messing around with a girl. It's a form of humbleness if you do it right. |

A form of humbleness? how do you mean?It sounds like it could be fun to use them, at least its something different anyway |

I think i'm gonna try it just to spice things up so i'm not always opening with Hello... it gets kind of boring striking up the same conversations every time |

Skills are you saying if i open in my normal manner the content of the conversation doesn't matter, how you open as appose to what you open with? I'm pretty sure we agree it can be done, i've just not used crappy chat up lines because i assumed you were supposed to let them do the work which is kind of creepy. |

I'm pretty sure we agree it can be done, i've just not used crappy chat up lines because i assumed you were supposed to let them do the work which is kind of creepy. imo if you have to think what to say, then is not coming natural, authentic.... Last night i saw a girl walking looking at her phone, i say if you are texting me i do not have my phone with me, she laughed, and i just started talking like a NORMAL guy... Now if you want scripted, look more for reaction and reads after you deliver the line.. i kind of like rsd:"hey! who are you? simple... scripted: hey i think you are cute, wanted to come and introduce myself and see if your looks(or cuteness) match your personality... Another one: hey! we do not know each other and we do not have any friends in common so i decided to come over here and introduce myself, i am skills...But Again situational way better than scripted imo, and what ever you say does not matter, is how you say, the confidence, eye contact, vibe, body language, presence and reaction reads from you, to assess the situation... Follow the link i posted.. |

i can't tell if we're agreeing or arguing. i think we're agreeing. Routines can suck out, they get you no where and if you get an unexpected response you're flat stumped because you don't know what to do next... stupidness |

There's nothing wrong with routines if you're a beginner. They can be used as back-up conversational topics and really help you out for when you need it. They're not to be avoided, but not to be dependent on either. There's good and bad to them, just like most other things.
