Post subject:  Fully committing to this: ideas?

If you're in the chatroom often, you know my situation. I first read about pickup about six or seven months ago. A couple months later, I started going to the local mall to daygame, and I headed to bars alone where I had no choice but to approach. I am not some self-loathing virgin, nor did I ever blame external circumstances on my failures when talking to women. I did, however, see this as a way to take control. I am not a huge fan, but to quote Mystery:

"If you cannot attract a woman, you are, by definition, sterile."

I think there is some wisdom in that sentence. I wanted some more control over my romantic life. There have been some logistical issues due to my having only a part-time job after graduating college, living with my mom while I save money, and being in a family-oriented area that had very few singles in their 20s (the demographic I prefer with women).

Now that the brief backstory is done, here's the point of my post: I want to commit 100% to reinventing myself through pickup. What is involved with this? Here are some things I have done in the past couple weeks to get the ball rolling...

1. Because I live in a small town, I have gone into the nearby city of Pittsburgh, about 45 minutes driving, twice in the last month. When I have the opportunity, I'd rather go to a city filled with girls than a local bar that may have 5 cute girls and no other bars nearby if I flop.
2. I have reconnected with a few people from my hometown area that I did not talk to when I was younger. I hated high school, but it's silly to let the past affect the building of a social network out here.
3. I just got a new job, and I am saving up in order to move out of my house once I have successfully completed training (about 3-4 months) and get a boost in pay as a result.
4. I have cut down my drinking when I go out, significantly. This is in part due to my having to drive, but also that if I go out to practice game I want to be in complete control of my faculties.

So I have the groundwork set up, but there is more I want to do:

1. Get into better shape. I have been eating healthier lately, but I am still working out what the best diet would be for me. I am not overweight, I just want to lose the beer gut. I have been making progress, but who knows if I am doing things right to sustain it.
2. Update the wardrobe. My closet is filled with what I call "frattire," the clothes of a partying fratboy, which I was. I'm an adult now, a professional, and a gentleman at heart, so I want clothes that reflect that. I need button-down shirts, vests, a sportcoat perhaps, a couple sweaters. Just a section of my closet for going out and looking damn good.
3. Open more sets when I go out. So far I go out and I open 2-4 sets for the whole night. I gotta learn to hit the ground running and open double that, at least.
4. No more masturbation. I do not know if this has any true effect, but in the interest of learning I have to apply this and see if there is any change in my attitude and social interactions.

Now here's the thing, these are really vague concepts. So I come to you, the community, for additional points, ways to succeed at the tasks I have set before me, etc. This is not a quick process, so if you have an idea that will take months to complete, by all means add them. What do I need to do in order to be 100% committed to pickup?

Good stuff! I like the commitment.

I too live in a smaller city where I see the same 100 girls at every club and day game doesn't exist due to suburbia. So I know how it feels, I make 2-3 approaches a week:(

I would recommend joining a gym and doing some group classes. This will sharpen your social skills and you will meet chicks! I think this would kill two birds with one stone.

When you get your own place, focus on making it a female friendly invironment for when you bring back those slimies from the club!

And make sure you focus on your new job. Not like my ass who sits on this forum half my work day!

Start with body for life by phillips 3 months(you will see result from week to week and will get you exited to continue), then do p90x(3months), then insanity(2 months), then p90x insanity hybrid.or/and if you have the money cross fit... I saw your pics you look good but you need to tan...

Guess Jeans(anything guess) easy and affordable.

10 minimum, unless you hocked up

masturbation irrelevant

good luck! [/b]

I'm not paying money for a workout routine. If you can't tell me to life x amount, run y amount, do z crunches, etc, I will not bother. Seriously, I may as well buy a shakeweight, at least that'll offer humor as well.

Glad to see you are doing this. It helps push yourself to where you want to be.
I myself make lists of things I want to accomplish and every month I go over that list and ask myself if I am excelling.
If yes then keep moving forward.
If not then I figure out what I need to do to change it.

Keep it up.

Nice bro.

Ok heres my input.

Pickup will not cover every aspect for life improvement.

Let me share my ideas on areas of life improvement.

Mind including Emotions, Learning, Reading, Focus, Vision and all kind of mental Skills

Body including Energy, Health, Sport, Exercise, Fitness, Wellness, Beauty, Outlook

Spirit including Raising Consciousness, Being present, Meditation, in Contact with our Soul

Social including Family, Girl- or Boy-Friend, Friends and all other Relationships with other people

Finance including Money, Savings, Belongings and Things we own

Juice means all things Fun like Traveling, Celebrating etc.

Profession is what I create in my Work as a meaningful Contribution to society and to my personal Fulfillment

These are the areas of your life that are important to make improvements and find a healthy balance.

Now i think pickup can cover most of those topics, except arguably finance and profession... Arguably of course.

Alot of people dont care about money or careers, and think happiness is more important and comes from these other areas. Take most our mothers for example. They give up finance and professions to raise us and create a family.

Im currently one of those people who dont care, but once my career gets going I will probably become greedy and power hungry because ultimately/ sadly thats how our society is controlled! money!

just for arguments sake...

If your profession is as Painter.

Pickup wont make you a better painter. This is its own practice entirely.

However it might help you meet an art gallery owner, which could improve your career yes.

I'm gonna make a recommendation that I think EVERYONE should do, yet especially you, since you sound as though you are unsure about your decisions and the results they will bring. You sound intelligent however and I believe that if you go download Bob Proctor's video on The Science of Getting Rich by www.seminarsondvd.com (get it however you like, that's just where it comes from if you want an amazing resource for development materials direct from the source) you will understand what he says about making a decision and the results it will bring you. For some further information on what making any choice in life, about anything, will bring you, check out this thread I just made a detailed post in depressed-method-vt121013.html
