Post subject:  So what is Alpha, anyways?
Anybody read a thread like this in the last couple months:

"I have a friend who's the Alpha of the group, but I wanna be the Alpha because I know being Alpha gets you girls. How do I overtake him as the Alpha, Alpha Alpha Alpha Mystery Method Alpha Alpha Alpha."

Close enough. Maybe it's me, but I never thought being an "alpha" meant dominating other people, being the guy in charge the whole time. I have a few friends that if I got into trouble and called them, they'd do everything they could to help me. Does that make me alpha? I guess, but I would do the same for them, so who's in charge then? I always thought that to be alpha was to have the respect of your peers, but you earned that respect by demonstrating not only strength and confidence, but social skills, intelligence, depth, character, and compassion as well. Or to summarize, an alpha is just someone respect for being a decent human being.

Am I that far off? What do YOU consider alpha?

An alpha is a leader.
I'll talk about the traits I think true alpha's have:
Positive:
- Leadership
- Presence
- larger than average verbal skills
- larger than average ability to understand others
- charisma
Negative:
- Stubborn
- Overly dominant
- controlling
- very demanding.



But it really isn't that important in gaming. Atleast not with cold approaching.

I think everyone has their own interpretation of an "Alpha".

To me it's basically a MAN who goes for what he wants, without letting anyone or anything (fears) hold him back. While respecting other people.

Leadership comes automatic. He wants to do something, so he does it. And other people follow him if they happen to have the same desires.

In other news, is the term Alpha even useful? I respect if people choose to use it, but I often see more negative behaviors forming from usage of the term than positive ones. For instance male chauvinism, misogyny, arrogance (for no reason), *FAKE confidence, and an overall *FAKE personality. I'm not really seeing the use in calling someone ALPHA because it's such a useless term to begin with. How do we even begin to start using a term meant for dogs and wolves on humans? I sort of chuckle at the idea. :lol:

ETA: And I do respect this community, but I've seen several men without these "Alpha" qualities pick up plenty of women. One guy who comes to mind, dresses horrible, has bad posture, poor body language, and very poor communication skills. Yet he's slept with perhaps 5 times the women anyone else I know has slept with. Again, you don't have to "Alpha" to get women. Whoever told you that was lying to you.

I think the simplest way to put it is, to be Alpha you don't have to be dominant over friends and strangers, you just need to be the Man in charge of your own life and not look to others for approval.

Be your own Man.

I was looking up power and how I see that everything I do in my life is somehow related to a desire for power. everything listed here. Im striving to improve.

I believe this covers all the features of the "alpha".

Alpha = Power

and we all want some form of power or our life has no meaning. I want power with all of these.

Force isn't a 'must' for an alpha. You can be an alpha with violence and military shit, but being social is way more important cuz violence won't take long before it goes down.
The nice thing about violence, is that agressive people will always get there ass kicked after some time :)

Being an alpha male is about not thinking that you must be the alpha male and not having the urge to be the alpha all the time.

With other words: being alpha is not about trying to hide your insecurities and who you are, but rather self acceptation and (self) respect, bravery, patience, determination and openness in mind.

Well that one's definitely wrong. Sounds more like how to be a bully/dictator then a decent human being

What I mean is when you approach a girl and you have no background of her and she hasn't got any of yours it's like totally oblivious whether in your life you're the big boy snoopie d o double g. You're just a man saying hi.
