| Post subject: | Is it okay to be bored? |
After reading Apollo's DHV write up I make an active effort to make sure I'm am never less than a 'good' when people ask how I am. However is it okay to say that I am bored. On one hand if you are to say your bored, it appears to be a DHV, the more intelligent, understanding, and natural you are, the quicker you become bored. As a basic example, intelligence is measured in young children by how long it tkaes to become bored with their environment. I will not be humble in the least when I say I am intelligent. When I take interest in something I exhaust all effort to master it, but I eventually become bored. On the other, my being bored could possibly give the message that I am a boring person. I'm unable to create excitement in my life, and she wouldn't gain much from entering my world. So which message do you think I would send if I am to say that I'm bored? What kind of body language could change it to the first. As I am writing it, I would imagine an empasis on bored as I expressively tell someone. Like this is a new or rare occurance. Any thoughts? |

You are the party. If you are bored, you are boring. |

i am a firm believer that when opening a set you have to raise the energy of the set (i think i got that from a mehow vid?) anyways, i think you can pretty much say anything as long as it is said in the right way For instance.. HB: How are doing? Me: I'm bored. You come off as boring OR.... HB: How are you? Me: Bored out of my mind!! Well...i was, before i started talking to you =) |

i hear ya but my point is that its not really about if you can say your bored or not but about the energy you use to convey it with. Like saying your bored and coming off as boring or saying your bored and coming off as someone who brings a lot of energy and excitement |

Dont apply bored to yourself ever. You may break it down and may sound like your DHVing, but truthfully in a social setting, when meeting strangers that will be the 1st impression of you. I dont think you want that. Imagine you meeting someone for the first time. You ask them how theyre doing, they say theyre bored. Id imidiately think theyre lame. When I go out w/ AFC friends I always tell them before we get outta the car to ALWAYS LOOK LIKE YOUR HAVING FUN! -JUSTINcredible! |

I think it's a good idea to avoid telling someone you just met that you are bored. |

I don't remember specifying but I didn't just mean openers. I do like white roses's ideas. "I'm freaking bored, waddya gonna do about that?" If I speak with enthusiasm and energy, I feel like the word bored will be overshadowed by my body language, and tone of voice. I often create a challenge to people and I normally get good results. ie. I need to get shit-faced.... waddya gonna do about it? For those people who said never open with being bored: what's your point in which you can, if you can? |
