I think it's important to transition into DHV stories smoothly for a start (so the conversation feels like it has naturally led up to you telling the story) and I find using funny DHV stories useful because you can tell her all this cool stuff about yourself while using a funny story as a cover up. It's important not to come across as if you're bragging (boasting) though as she needs to be in the mindset that the only reason you're telling her this is because it's funny / interesting. I think it's most powerful to be subtle with the DHV spikes and let her draw her own conclusions from what limited information you give her.
Pretty much every DHV spike you give is another potential conversation thread and if she chooses to question you on that thread then you can elaborate more on your DHV spike.
I know what you mean about sub-communicating high value and that's also very strong but there's some stuff that you just can't sub-communicate which DHV stories can help out with.
To qualify her successfully you need to let her feel that she's won you over and has invested in you and that you like her for her personality rather than her looks. That's pretty much the easiest way of explaining it. So even if you do go direct you still need to qualify her
