Prologue: Man, I don't remember the last time I wrote a field report... but here's a brief primer on where I've been since the fall of the Southern California Lair (where I had been a founding member and moderator). I took over a year away from the community: I had seen some things and had realizations of what I want, and what I do not want. Basically, I had been winging with a guy up in hollywood... really fun guy to sarge with, but he does not know how to get out of the entertainer mode, and how to pull and close. He had been stuck in there for over a year by that point. And of course, there were a handful of "gurus" I had met through the SoCal Lair. Some had true talents and skills, some could teach effectively, but most were purely there to inflate their own ego while separating fools from their money. Then I met a few virtually unknown and *very* talented PUAs who were doing hollywood the way few self-proclaimed Gurus can. SNLs, BR pulls, blowjobs on the sidewalk, everything. Relentless ambition, tight game, quick thinking on social dynamics. But it was all on the types of girls that elicit nothing but disdain from me. Ditzy club girls who go out almost every night for attention are not my target demographic. So I lost interest in doing the night game thing, and decided to focus on getting my life in order. Went back to school. Stopped thinking about situations in the pickup frame. I internalized my skills, and got better at making it natural and improving my flow. Fast forward to two months ago: one of my old wings brings back some old memories, and I start reading some forums and all that. The Community is one of the most interesting places on the internet, a devilish mix of sex, psychology, humor, and camaraderie. And I got hooked again... now its time to take a direct look at what I'm doing, and where to improve. My future FR's are written for me, to help me analyze what I'm doing-- and of course, if you can learn something or give me some pointers, then all the better. Main Course: Today I went to my favorite spot ever: college cafeteria meal hall. Tons of sets, always changing, and everyone has time to spare-- and if a set isn't hooking, you can always get up to go to class. Walking in I immediately notice a blonde with pink highlights in her hair, working on a drawing. I compliment her on her glasses, notice the drawing, and start a conversation about art, and show her some of my drawings. I sit across from her at the table. I failed to initiate any kino on this set. Get her laughing, tell her about travel and give her advice on that. She's giving some IOIs, but not very strong yet. Turns out she is 17. I keep the conversation going while I look for a more viable set. Give her my email address just to be social. She says she has an older sister, buuut they don't look alike. I'll pass. I eject to go find food. Some guys don't have a problem with that, but since she won't be 18 for over six months, I figure its not worth my time. She may be a regular here, in which case hanging out as friends will be good social proof in the future. Maybe. Later I see a cute asian who is sitting with two UG friends. I'm sitting a few seats away from them at the same table, buuut they are in a heavy discussion about class, and I'm not feeling motivated to open. Should I plow in anyway, even though I've been sitting there quietly working on homework for the last five minutes? OR maybe I shou-- hey, wait a second, some interesting looking person just sat down at another table... She has a weird haircut and looks lesbian, but has a great face and looks like she would be WAY more fun to hang out with than the cute asian.. and she sees me looking at her, and we both glance away. Should have maintained eye contact on that one, SW. I consider my options, and look at this new girl again.. she is not looking towards me, but I get the feeling she is watching me with her peripheral vision. I pick up my bags and open as I sit down diagonal from her. "Hi, whats up? You have such a great face. You know, the lines of your cheekbones and nose and such. You probably get that a lot, or its the absolute goofiest thing you've ever heard, but seriously, its great. Have you ever done modeling?" She's laughing, and eats it up. We start talking about modeling, and photography.. and oh boy, she is a dance major. Excellent. We do some people watching and some banter, and I keep her laughing the entire time. She has to go, I try for the number close, but end up with a @ and facebook close. Well, maybe she is lesbian after all. Definitely a good looking person to have around though. Get up, see another asian, open, but she gives IODs. Could plow, but I'd rather start with someone who is receptive to me right off the bat-- especially when they may be fresh off the boat. Go to the library, walk around the entire place... not a single good looking set around... maybe if I check again... AHA! There's one! I see a very cute asian chick with a striped shirt and matching striped purse, I banter open about it, do some funny stuff, get her cracking up. Start talking about drawing somehow, so I teach her how to draw (How to Draw Marvel Super Heroes is GREAT btw, easy as fuck to learn how to draw Spider Man etc, if you are so inclined...). She eats it up, and I do a cute drawing of her, and have her do a drawing of me. This time I remember to kino, at least a bit. Thumb wrestling, high five, and a hand caress. She likes to go drinking. Thats funny, so do I! I # close, and we agree to go drinking together next week. All in all, a decent day. I think that last asian will close, if I can get a day 2. The lesbian is 50/50, but even as a friend she will be very cool. the 17 year old was a bit too nerdy for me, but I'll probably see her around. She may have some friends to introduce me to next time.
