===================================================== Field Report Location: The Star, Guildford 30 October, 2009 Wingmen: none ===================================================== It’s Halloween! I’m heading out with the usual suspects of the Guildford crew, some of them I haven’t seen in a long time. We get ready there and then drive down to the Star for drinks. As soon as we enter I head straight up to the first 2 set of girls I see “Ever notice how everyone dresses as Zombies at halloween? I think that’s just lazy! It’s like they’re saying – I haven’t found a costume so fuck it, I’ll pretend I’m dead and wear my own clothes!” The girls laugh, and I continue. “I love your costumes! I know you’re a zombie, don’t worry I’ll still talk to you (smile and laugh), but only because of those blue eyed contacts you’re wearing!” I DHV about taking everybody out for the night and then chastise them for not having any friends. “I bet you guys were mean to everyone during the week!” From there I get their names and shake hands “Wow…,” says the zombie when I ask meaning how quickly I’ve gone personal with them. I gloss over it and keep my body language neutral. After a few minutes I eject and spend time with my friends outside on the porch where I get to know a great set of new people. On the way back from the bathroom I see the same two girls hanging out by themselves. I walk up. “OMG, still no friends! That’s so sad! Seriously, a tiny violin should be playing in the background!” We all laugh and they say that their mates are running late and they’re waiting. We fluff talk and after a minute or two I decide to move them. “Come on, there’s no sense being bored by yourselves. Pick up your stuff and I’m taking you outside!” They follow me and I introduce them to my 6 set of friends. I accomplishment intro a guy I had only met an hour before, Rob, who seemed like a nice enough guy and I used him to distract one girl while I DHVed and tried to qualify mine. I lock in and get her talking about her work. I tell them about how the length of fingers determines personality and we the conversation floats back and forth. Eventually I’m not getting strong signals from the girl and I exit the set and go inside to chat to people with awesome costumes. After another 10 minutes the girls come in for a drink and see me talking to new people and old mates. They hangout near me and I wave them over start DHVing again. My brother, who can’t contribute (when I say zero chat I mean it. His idea of a conversation is telling you how he beat a level on the computer game in great detail), doesn’t want to feel alone but hasn’t the social finess to keep his distance – hovers next to me just outside the group. He stares at all of us and just does creepy things. I get stuck into a conversation with the Zombie and start kino escalating (hands, arms, I move her so I can have the bar stool behind her I lean in to whisper in her ear and she does shy away). I ask her if she likes sushi (she does) and then how I’m taking friends to an all you can eat sushi buffet in Camden in a couple weeks and go into detail about how awesome it is (then I don’t invite her). I talk to others as they go by and then chat to her again, maintaining strong eye contact. I run a gambit on her and it works. While she’s laughing I say: “You know what, ur fun! You need to meet my sushi friends!” “Yeah, that’d be good!” “I’m going to introduce you when we go but I’m not sure when (pull out phone). What’s your number?” I typed her number in and she went to the bar to get us some drinks. I get into conversation with some friends and she goes back to her group but I can see she isn’t engaged in their conversation. Once I’ve sorted out with my friends what I’m doing, I go up and chat to her again and escalate the sexual content and maintain eye contact through the whole of it. How many boyfriends did you have? When was your first kiss? What’s the weirdest thing you’ve been asked to do? I meet her friends who were late and bounce them all to the back room of the bar, where a heavy metal band is playing. As I’m walking, I hold my hand out to the target and she takes it as I lead her to the band. Our bodies remain close as we walk and the tension is rising. I can kiss close, I feel it – just need to think how. I quickly borrow a tenner from my friend so I don’t have to leave the room and I take the zombie chick back to the bar for sambuca shots. “There’s only one way for us to do these,” I tell her “and that’s with our arms entwined.” We slam the shots and I lean forward and whisper in her ear. “Do you want to kiss me?” (I lean back) “Yes!” she says smiling We kiss. This was straight up decent game. Nothing I’ll ever win point on as I could have done this better and at any time in my leaving the set could another guy have swooped in to take over. But I was pleased. The band is finishing. My friends are going, is she coming? Not yet she needs to stay with her friends, afterall the ones they’ve been waiting all night for have only just arrived. We say goodbye and I tell her I’m going to text her the party’s address so she can come. “Oh I’ll definitely be doing that tonight,” She says with strong eye contact as I begin to head for the door. |
