4/19/09 Set 1: My wing and I where strolling around the mall, nothing, the place was dead. Nothing but ugly's and girls hanging with their parents. Understandable, it was sunday after all and one of the hottest days LA has had in a while. We finally see a pair of hb6's and my wing(risky) goes in for the kill. I sit out of sight waiting for his signal for me to come in to the set. Risky: Hey, I need your guys Opinion on something. hb6's: Uh, wtf? Sure. Risky: How do I tell someone im not interested with out hurting their feelings? hb6's: idk Risky: Umm, ok thanks. Bye. He froze up. Set 2: I tell him not to worry about it. Were bound to fail miserably our fist couple of times. I decided to move our operation to another mall. Score. We spot a pair of hb8's. Risky: Hey, I need your guys Opininon on something. At this points one of them actually walks away. Clever: Is she always like this? hb8:*laughs* Risky: ANYWAYS. So, how do I tell some one im not interested with out hurting their feelings? hb8: Idk. She then walks away to follow her friend. Set 3: No worries. The second mall was pretty dead too. So I tell my wing that we should walk to the movie theaters a couple of blocks away to game the girls waiting for their movie to start. On the way there we spot a moving 3 set, all hb8's. Its my turn to open. Clever: Hey hb8's: *turn to look at me* Clever: I need an opinion on something hb8's: *keep walking* Damn, fawk it. Set 4: At this point my wing and I are feeling pretty discouraged. I tell him to man the fawk up and lets get this done. We reach the theaters and spot a mixed 3 set. The guy wanders off somewhere at which point my wing approaches. Risky:Hey can I play? They looked like they where hiding behind those things that tell you where everythings at, like at the mall. hb7's:haha play what? Risky: I want to play hide and seek with you guys! hb7's: *laugh* Risky: at this point he runs the same opener we had been using, he heavily relies on canned material so he went back to that just so he would have something to say. Also at some point the guy returns. They all turn out to be cousins and my wing goes on about how they brought him along as their body guard hb7's: Hey, who are you here with? Risky: Im here with my best friend *calls me over* Clever: Hey wutsup, *look over to the guy* cool shades. Guy:Thanks, I bought them at........... Clever: At this point I run the good girl/bad girl cold read. I disqualify my target telling her it would never work out between us. I then neg her on her dimples. This girl was really feeling me. Its getting pretty late so I signal to my wing that its time to go hb7's: What movie are you guys seeing? Clever: Actually were heading out, we have some stuff to do. It was good meeting you though. I go in for a hug, I then point at me cheeck as if expecting a kiss and she complies. Feels good man. In all our excitement of getting our first positive response we forgot to get their numbers, oh well. Obviously a lot of "fluff" talk is missing from that last set, and a lot of the interaction between risky and his target. Looking back we also figured out that using opinion openers during day game was pretty stupid. Anyways critique our performance plz. |

Typically, during the day it is best to be more direct. People are in the zone and out doing things. They have a schedule to keep and that sort of things. Where at night it's given people are going to a bar/club to talk to people, that is why the opinion openers do better then. I am glad you recognized that. Good job though on your first time going out. BTW, you did a good job formatting your field report and making it easy to read. |

I LOLd at the part where you didn't get their numbers. Very good work for your first time though. |

Good work for a first time day game - day game is one of the toughest areas to get down. Some advice I would give though is if you're going to use canned material try and hook it to a situational opener. Opinion openers have been overused in the scene because all the books and programs talk about them and the hot girls are becoming wise to them. Forums like this are here so that people stay one step ahead of the rest of the field. Go to a mall or a coffee shop and sit down somewhere and kick up a conversation about something like a text message you got sent with your wing (save your wings number as a girls name and use a faked text). Then at some point, lean back naturally, look around and ask the girls for advice about something in the message. You'll get a positive response 99% of the time. Some people will tell you don't appologise for entering the set - fuck that. You've just interrupted someones interaction, say excuse me, false time constraint, ask the opinion, show the text (props add validation), move your chair over while they're answering, introduce yourself, comment on their opinion - preferably with a light neg and show you were listening by expanding on it with your outlook. Then just go with the flow and finish up with "well, you're a lot nicer than she is, we should swap numbers... Yours is 0....?" notice the "we should" rather than "can we" and the "0..." because the number will start with an 0 so she'll feel obliged to carry on giving it to you. Oh and by the way, if you try open an approach randomly it's blatent it's a set up - especially if you approach from the front. NEVER approach from the front! |

You know what I saw. Congrats on your first time sarging. Really, you guys kept at it even though the walk away. you don't have AA it seems, which is a huge plus. I love reading these field reports, it helps everyone get a better understanding of what others are doing, and maybe incorporate better ideas into your own mix. I think you should have more on the spot stuff. Can't use generic openers for every situation. Notice an article of clothing, and use that or something else. For example " Hey did you see a fight outside with the rent-a-cop, and that big white dude?" |
