Wow! What a day! I met up with a group of AFC/puas to practice approaching at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica today. First we practiced some day game approaches, conversing and just having fun talking smack. Then we went sarging opening sets at the bookstore, hip clothing store and finally in the street. While the more stationary stuff was pretty easy getting the girls to stop and talk was a bit more of a challenge. I opened two interesting sets. The first was a beautiful Russian girl that was in a hurry. Using MM moving I approached over the shoulder and asked "Hey, do you know where Starbucks is?" "It's over there" she replied. "Wow you suck at giving directions, it's actually the over there (pointing the opposite direction). I actually..." She interrupted me to interject "I have to run" I continued "Just thought you were cute and wanted to talk to you." This is where it was interesting. Yes she was probably late for work or something as she ran off but she also gave me a very significant look with positive energy and sexually tense eye contact as if she was appreciative and wished she could talk more with me. The second interesting set occurred when two girls a 6 Asian and 7.5 HB were taking a picture near me. I saw the 6 taking a picture of the 7.5 and said something like "You need me in this picture so you can say she met a hot and interesting guy while she was here!" The 6 said "Really?!?" and I replied "Yep", stepped into my picture, put my arm around the 7.5 blond and posed for the picture. After the picture I fluffed with the obvious "Where are you from?" and a few other typical questions. I tried to set up a meet later but got shot down. The guys with me whom I met through meetup.com were also doing well for early stage game. D was rattling off openers like he had 186 of them memorized. A was seemingly fearless with approaching even with his ESL handicap. J made up for a late start with a strong finish. At the end of the day we had each opened 5 sets and felt good about how things had gone. Obviously we each still need a lot more practice and work but I believe that everyone there today needs to start worrying less about opening and more about building report and demonstrating higher value. I was the only one who tried to close a set for a meet up later, so we all need to work on that as well. So...I can open, what next??? |

You could look up a technique say for instance, playful touching or something like that and field test it ("oi wanna fight?" -playfully push her shoulder etc). Basically just go through routines, change them to your style and see what works, hope that helps

Thanks Bingo! Please excuse me while I go in the other room and smack my palm on my forehead. Sometimes I can see things so clearly in others but totally miss it in myself. I will definitely put your advice into practice. Is there a favorite routine of yours that you like to go to early? Or an opener-DHV pairing that you have found particularly effective? |
