| Post subject: | French kiss-goodbye: How I #closed an HB8 at the book store |
I'm about to leave the book store as my friend is waiting for me outside, and I find a shelf named staff favorites. Being the curious person that I am, I stopped to see what type of books their employees were reading. Within a minute, a very cute HB8 positions herself next to me and begins to scan the shelves. I take a good look, she's about 5'6, straight dark hair and she had style. She was definitely my type of girl, but my day game is worlds apart from my night game. As I'm going through the rows, I've got choices: The art of seduction, How to be an asshole, Something borrowed, etc. I pick up a classic: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. She gets closer. Me: Are you finding anything interesting on this shelf? HB8: Not really. Me: I've been here 45 minutes and I haven't found one book that intrigued me. Have you read The Alchemist? HB8: Yeah, it's a great book. Me: It's a classic. I read it for the first time in high school, but I figure I should have this on my bookshelf. What's the last book you read? HB8: Oh it's called Stories from L.A. Me: What is it about? You look like someone who enjoys romantic novels. HB: (smiles) I do, and it is a romantic novel. The book is about... Me: (cuts her off) And I notice you have an accent. You must be french. HB: (bigger smile) I am from France. I just moved here for work. Me: Oui, I knew I recognized that accent. I speak french as well. (I tell her about my upbringing in Montreal, we banter in french.. my phone starts to buzz, I don't answer it) My friend is waiting for me outside. I'll tell you what. You seem like an interesting person with good taste. I'm going to pick up your book, read it and let you know what I think later this week. HB: Yes, here's my number. I grab the number and compliment her on her beautiful name. I text her so she can have mine and with a funny line: "cute tall guy from book store - eddie". She laughs as she gets the txt. Me: So what do you like to do for fun around here? HB: You know, I haven't done too much as it's hard to meet people outside of work. Me: Do you enjoy partying and meeting new people? HB: I do, I can't remember the last time I went to a party. Me: I actually just hosted one last night. We had about 20 friends over. Thankfully this time security wasn't called and we were left alone. HB: Hahaha, I would actually love to do that. Maybe we can hang out next weekend? Me: I'll ring you later this week. It was a pleasure meeting you. As I hug her, I tell her we should french kiss goodbye. I give her a kiss on each cheek, and she rejoices about how she hasnt had a french kiss good bye in a long time. I walk away and look back within a few seconds to see her smiling at me. I love this game. |
