So I searched John Wayne on this forum and found nothing about him. To me this is appalling. Ok ok im sure your not as shocked as I am about this and I would understand this if your not from America or you were raised in an urban area. Im sure there is not a lot of country boys in this forum. I think a lot can be learned from the Duke though, as far as his body language and tonality. Its always said that John Wayne never acted, that he was simply himself when he played in a movie and there is a lot of truth to this. The man was very tall (6'4) and athletic. He play football for USC (his football scholarship was ended after he injured his knee in a body boarding accident). He had a natural air of confidence to him. People that knew him often said that they could FEEL when he walked into a room. I would like to make some recommendations for some study material for tonality, body language and a number of other aspects of the game that he displayed such as negging (Watch Roster Cogburn he constantly negs his target), social proof(he was interviewed by playboy in 1971 and he is to this day an American Icon) , value, and one thing that I feel is kind of over looked in the reading I've done thus far BEING A BAD ASS("I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them."). (if there is any books about being a bad ass i would love to read it) In almost every western that the Duke plays in he gets the girl; True Grit,Roster Cogburn, Mclintock. To me he is a role model and an outstanding person and a lot can be learned from him. If you do watch these movies take note hes got game. P.S. As far as dress goes try cowboy boots it always gets me plenty of attention |

Quote: The man was very tall (6'4) and athletic. 6'4" is not very tall, just tall.Quote: social proof(he was interviewed by playboy in 1971 and he is to this day an American Icon) , He is not really an American Icon really as well he is no longer current. I don't think many 20 somethings know who he is, if they do I doubt they know much about him.Quote: To me he is a role model and an outstanding person and a lot can be learned from him. He is someone you can use as a role model, but I think you failed to realize one thing that made him stand out so much. Besides his acting skills, he had shit load of confidence and acted very much in an alpha male way which gave off the vibe you pick up. Saying that I think you should pick a more current icon to use, like James Bond, than John Wayne.

John Wayne was a man of good character, a student of fair ability with ambitious purposes, a congenial disposition, possessed of good morals and a deep sense of personal responsibility. All honor to his name. |

I have yet to completely calm down from your post jurupa, but i think i have sufficiently enough to reply. After stating this i proceeded to bash on your state of residence and it generally unpatriotic attitude. it was pretty funny and involved referring to your state exclusively as the peoples republic of commiefornia. i thought this was a little aggressive so i went and ran a mile to calm down some more. now im truely calm enough. i would like to start my retort with the late john wayne was 6 inches over the average height for americans i think this is sufficient to call him very tall. secondly i would ask you to google american icon and see if john wayne pops up and how current he is i think is completely irrelevant to my point. and lastly i would like to make a comparison of john wayne and james bond. first off james bond isnt a real person john wayne is in fact a real person. yes both john wayne were both bad asses in their own right but james bonds bad assery doesnt compare to john waynes in any form. starting with their fighting styles james bond used primarily kung fu which has been proven to be largely ineffective. john wayne uses a combination of bar brawling reminiscent of tank abbot and comedic elusivism similar to loyta machida and regularly uses a judo toss that always works out flawlessly. my last comparing point would be what each man drinks. my mother drinks martinis shaken not stirred as does james bond, john wayne drinks whiskey out of the bottle shaken from 6 days hard ride from a range in texas to dodge city where he will undoubtedly fight, fornicate with the farmers daughter and get sent to jail in a course of hours. james bond doesnt have shit on john wayne. |

Your crazy jarupa. John Wayne is A legend. I think you would be suprised at how many 20 somethings (thats me) know who he is, and are actually fans. I'm with you on the bond comment IOWA. I get frustrated when people compare themselves to james bond. He is a fictional character. You can't compare yourself to someone who has a script written for him that gets him laid every movie. |

although i loved a lot of his films; i never saw much of a actor in him. He was a man though, when he walked into shot, you knew it was a man that was there. Also he wasn't ripped, muscular or even good looking. He had rough skin and hard eyes, a man who looked like he'd been through the mud and back again (like a real cowboy). He goes with all the old macho actors; James Dean, James Cagney, Gregory Peck, Orson Welles (Citizen Kane) and a few others i forget right now. |
