| Post subject: | Gaming with a limp |
Right fellas, 3 months ago i badly broke my tibia (complete transerve open fracture if that means anything lol) and now have pins, plates and a pretty bad limp. The doc says its a long road to getting my normal walk back again (if i do eek). Now obviously this will affect my body language and I've become conscious about the limp. I can honestly say that is has affected my game pretty badly, as i only feel comfortable gaming in clubs (dark) and not daygame anymore! I still am moderately successful with nightgame but not half as much as i was before my accident Does anyone have any advice on how to get over this? My persona is quite cocky and extrovert, and i tend to bounce around a lot with energy etc so i've taken quite a hit here. Might have to NLP it from now on haha |

What caused the accident? Could it be used for a DHV? If it's a motorcycle, hangliding, skydiving, rally driving accident then all these activities are DHV material, plus you don't even have to bring it up the girl probably will. |

It was playing football, i guess i could milk it a bit haha. I dunno, it's more of an all round confidence thing rather than "how do i game now". Having a limp isnt really congruent with my personality and demeanor. I dunno it just feels weird now! Sort of like a caged animal. Tbh i more just started this thread to vent haha. Cheers for the reply |

More youthful upper body movement so that you can appear happier, younger, confident, and more charismatic. Use illustrators a lot, where you describe something visually with your hands. I dunno, it's more of an all round confidence thing rather than "how do i game now". Having a limp isnt really congruent with my personality and demeanor. I dunno it just feels weird now! I seen you said you were venting but I figured I could give something. Peace and Love Vic |

sorry to hear about your accident man, hope you recover fully soon. i can not relate however i have broken my foot once, ankle once and had knee and hamstring problems which all hve caused me to be on crutches and limp for a while. (only a few weeks at a time though) it did stop me dancing at night clubs because i struggled to balance. use it to your advantage, if someone asks or looks curiously at you make up some smartass lie. - sex injury - just deadlifted or squatted a jumbo jet - hit the clutch too hard drag racing and old lady. - got hit by a car saving a baby - walking off lastnights curry - say that you taped your cock to your leg to hide your boner. - "its not a limp, its a pimp walk" something to get a giggle. whoever you say it to will genuinely ask what happend. in which case you can tell them, but say it as if it is not an issue. it has to be expressed as an inconvinience not something that upsets or emotionally effects you. i have convinced a girl to "help" me put jeans on at a clothing store. be cheeky. all the best out there man, Ben. |

I can relate. I have several physical/medical problems which cause me to walk with a limp intermittently, sometimes to the point of requiring a cane. Unfortuantely, any type of physical abnormality is an automatic DLV in any woman's eyes. That's instinctual. She'll see you as damaged goods. Thats the sad reality of life. I decided to try to hide it as much as possible, as its not a constant problem for me. But you won't have that option unfortunately. The way I see, you only have one choice, which is to overcompensate for it. If you are smiling and laughing and being really energetic with your UPPER body, then she won't notice or focus on whats going on with the lower half. When she asks, just tell some breif DHV story about a football injury or motorcycle crash and then get back to building attraction and rapport. |

Thanks ninja and ben! I think once i just accept my funny walk fully i will feel better. It's just difficult to have to adjust so suddenly. Things are looking slightly up though Ben and ninja, thanks a lot for the kind words and support. I am wondering if you guys have the ability to sort of "block out" your medical/physicals problems from your own awareness? I like to believe that if this is achieved then the mental pressure of approaching etc will subside somewhat. Also looking into hypnosis about this! |

You may not be able fully block it out if the problem is constant. Like you may be standing there talking to sets normally, but then you have to hobble over to go use the restroom. You're going to be very aware that those sets will see you limping. You can't really avoid that. You may want to mention your problem first, before they actually see you limping. That way you can explain that you are not some weird cripple, and instead a risk taker who got injured. I've encountered a lot of people who have strange conditions that make them walk or talk funny, and if they don't tell you what is wrong with them then you can only guess. You don't want chicks guessing what is wrong with you though. Because they could just as easily think you are limping due to a scorching herpes flare up, rather than something innocuous like a minor football injury. |
