I 'll give you my view on this topic, maybe some PUA would have done it different but this is my opinion

I dont think it is compulsory but if money isn't a problem for you, i advice you to pay. If she thanks you for it (or she is telling you she wanted to pay aswell) just tell her: you can pay next time... (with a smile on your face ofcourse)

Why do you take her for lunch on first time out anyways?

You probably know each other quite a bit already, so what I'd advice you to do is pay for the lunch. If you're going to get some cheaper drinks afterwards or w/e you can playfully make her spend a couple of dollars.

-Lunch on a first time out is fine.

alright. I'm a lunch guy. I'm mad picky about girls and lunches are always relaxed with a "no expectations" perception. It allows you to decide whether or not your gonna get this one or move onto the next.

Pay for her bro, part of being a man is being a gentleman, and that requires you to show that your putting some time into her. If she tries to pay, like serenity said, wink at her and throw out a line like "Baby I gotchya what kinda guy do ya think I am." Playful, but with a hidden meaning behind it. Draw em in and then go for the kill. Lunches like I said are the easiest way to keep her thinking about you. Dinners are for dates, lunches are a good opener.

Just my thoughts.

I always try and avoid at all costs buying a girl anything simply because i dont want to be categorized as one of those "nice guys " that will do everything for a girl
however if you HAVE to pay for her i would make her do something for you
e.g. Ok im paying for lunch but your taking me out for coffee
or Im only going to pay for your lunch if you will make a noise like a dieing giraffe

That way your not jumping through her hoops

Nice one Zappo, I think along those lines now.

Last time I took a chick for dinner I did pay, it does make a good impression (she offered to go halves but wasn't much anyway) I said don't worry girl, this isn't a free ride and I winked, you best get ready to cover our next hangout, she laughed, and guess what she did at the next date.
