| Post subject: | A2 Help Please |
Hey guys, I have been doing game for about 1.5 months consistently so far. I don't know what has happened, but the last two weekends I just feel really lost in A2. Does anyone know any good 'material', videos, books, posts on this phase? I thought I had gotten over AA, but now it is coming back to me, because so many times I go in: Open, it goes decently well, and then I just have nowhere to lead the conversation. So, I either come off creepy or just sort of get pushed out of set, even after a good first minute of talk or so. I could use routines and/or anything. I had been doing ?s into statements, but that seems harder to do during night game w/ big sets. |

Once you get passed the opener, start making observational assumptions (a.k.a cold reading). If you are accurate, they'll be impressed by your keen observations of them. If you are way off, they'll laugh because what you are saying is outlandish. The key to that is to either be really good at cold reading people, or be so absurd with it that they laugh at what you are saying and think you are funny. When/if that part of the conversation goes stale, have some DHV stories you can tell. Instead of just going right into the story, tell them that you need to get their opinion about it or tell them that they'll think this story is interesting. Get them mentally invested in what you are about to say. You need some good stories though, and you need to be a good story teller. So practice that. Another thing you can do is "nouning". Pluck the nouns from her sentences. She might say "I'm in COLLEGE and study FRENCH and I work at STARBUCKS part time." Then you respond with something about her college, going to France, and make some jokes about Starbucks. The key to this is to sound really interested in the things she mentions, that way she'll keep talking about them and you can establish rapport with her during that conversation. |
