Post subject:  Went Sarging for the first time - game play review please!

So it was Halloween Saturday and I decided finally I think I have the balls to try and sarge.

(I am normally "the nice guy" and I do get a long with women as just friends and dont mind but my cousin pointed out aside from that and lack of experience I'd be an amazing PUA so I thought I'd try)

I was only able to open to two sets.. had trouble finding topics to open with but here are the two. Was hoping to get some advice on how to do better next time (still reading books/forums/watching videos)

Epic Fail Mid-Game

I walked up to a pair of girls dressed up as Alice in Wonderland HB6 (didnt know it at first) and Captain Jack Sparrow HB0. I went straight for the HB6 and only the HB6.

Me: Hey, I gotta get back to my friends but I was wondering if I can get your opinion on something. Do I look like a zombie or a vampire?

Her: A zombie?

Me: That's what everybody is saying but I'm Edward Cullen! Who are you dressed as (should have made a random guess)

Her: Alice in Wonderland

Then I ran out of things to say and bailed with my tail between my legs.

Make up round

After the fail above I lost my confidence for a good hour and it was getting late so I couldn't find many single girls but there were two girls alone and they were popular shunning guys out not even acknowledging them all night. A HB 6 and an HB8.

I walked straight up to them and dodged the line of guys waiting to talk to them and this is how it went:

Me: Hey, I just had to come over and say nice costumes!

HB8: instant smile and said thanks (HB6 just ignored me)

Me: The maid outfit looks great on you, can you guess what I am?

HB8: (smiles) take a step back. Hmm, I dont know, (to HB6 do you know what he's dressed as?)

HB6: No?

HB8: I dont know? Will you tell me? (playfully said that)

Me: Edward Cullen (with a smile)

HB8: OH!

I felt things slow down right after that so...

Me: Anyways, enjoy the rest of your night

HB8: You too..

I don't think you failed, you just seem to lack conversation skills and that causes you to bail too early. For example, you could have elaborated on Alice in Wonderland, then switched to the desirability of shrinking potions (for your enormous manhood), the dangers of unseen rabbit holes, or what a cat's grin would look like. Google 'how to be a good conversationalist' and read up. Set a goal for yourself to talk to women for a slightly longer period of time (e.g. 2 minutes), so you have to continue even if your first impression is that the conversation is running out of steam. You need the practice.

I agree with Timo. You didnt really fail. But that being said theres nothing wrong with failing. Ive always learned more from failing then when i succeed. Anyways you deffintaly need to work on the conversation skills. You need to be observant. If its taking you a bit to approach spend that time thinking of things to say that could have gone with there outfits. When approaching I like to move in for the kill, figurativly, within the first 5 seconds of seeing them. True I dont have as much material to use but its absolutely amazing for your inner game

Thanks Timo and Dutchstyles99

Your comments really helped me discover my weak points. Its definitely partially a cultural thing. I'm half Japanese and spent the last half decade there before moving back to North America last year so I'm still getting the hang of things here.

Ill do some research on conversing and as Dutch said, I think that I have learned a lot from this experience.

I'm pretty sure not wearing glasses or contacts made things a bit harder as I couldnt see anything all night and pretty much went in blind but in the end I also go really friendly with one of the bouncers.

That's the problem with using observational material. You run out of things to say. "Nice costume. What is it? Where did you get it? It looks nice on you." then you are out of things to say.

You could keep the costume convo going if you wanted to. Start telling her about some awesome costume you saw a guy wearing, like the dick-in-the-box or human breathalizer costumes. Those are really funny and she'll start laughing as soon as you describe what they look like. Ask her what was the strangest/funniest costume she has seen. Also, when she tells you what her costume is, be like "I love that movie/show/book/story!" Pretend to be really interested in it and give her props for liking the same thing you like.
