I know what you mean but you can subtly transition from talking about heels and get her opinion on your own shoes (hoping they are reasonably presentable) with something like "So is it true that you can tell a lot about a guy from just his shoes?" then follow up with "what do my shoes tell you about me?" but it depends on how well the convo was going to start with (you don’t want the impression that you have some kind of fascination with feet - Haha

I like to pick a piece of jewellery she's wearing such as a ring/bracelet/necklace and show a little interest in it as I tell her it piques my curiosity - from there you can ask if there’s a meaning/story behind it (She might even qualify herself if she goes into her own DHV/family related story) failing that its still a nice little Kino opportunity.
