Post subject:  How long should I freeze out a girl who is in mourning?

I met a girl who is a waitress at a restaurant. She flaked out on our date but later texted me that her grandpa had another heart attack. A few days before I talked to her on the phone, she was in the hospital with him so I believe her. Thing is, she just texted recently that he is dying. I just replied basically giving my condolence and giving her time and space. How long should I freeze a girl who is in mourning? They obviously aren't emotionally stable to be dating right now. And even when I do talk to her again, what I should my frame be? Serious and sympathic? I don't encounter these situations with girls often so any advice is appreciated.

Personally, I'd wait a week or so, texting her every now and then (not too much cuz she might need some time on her own).

About your frame. Unfortunately I think this kind of episodes change everything. So you must change your frame and your attitude just a bit (re-adjustments).

Remember to make her laugh a lot.

I'd say be sympathetic, make her laugh every time you can, and if she gets serious or doesnt want to talk, just enjoy the silence and allow her to let her emotions out. If she cries, be with her, if she is serious, dont act clownish but instead act like you care but do not try to solve her emotional issues or problems.

Just let her know you understand what she's going tru and you're willing to be there for her.

Give her time, but do not make her feel like you forgot about her, Keep it friendly, compromise-free, and not too serious and you'll be fine.
