Give her time, but do not make her feel like you forgot about her, Keep it friendly, compromise-free, and not too serious and you'll be fine.

I met a girl who is a waitress at a restaurant. She flaked out on our date but later texted me that her grandpa had another heart attack. A few days before I talked to her on the phone, she was in the hospital with him so I believe her. Thing is, she just texted recently that he is dying. I just replied basically giving my condolence and giving her time and space. How long should I freeze a girl who is in mourning? They obviously aren't emotionally stable to be dating right now. And even when I do talk to her again, what I should my frame be? Serious and sympathic? I don't encounter these situations with girls often so any advice is appreciated.
