Post subject:  Gap fillers, avoiding interview questions

Has anyone got some basic gap fillers you can use when the conversation dies?

Generally speaking after opening the conversation flows nicely but sometimes it hits a brick wall and there is the awkward silence which for me results in the use of interview questions like,
whats your name?
what do you do?
etc...

any advice on avoiding this? thanks

Jontay

Situational awareness.

Pay attention to your surroundings, and bring up conversations from the things that you are observing. Thats the easiest thing for me at least. Talk about surroundings and than just relate them to your conversation with her.

i.e. That guy looks like a drug dealer...you think he deals coke or marijuana? lol
i.e. You see a blonde girl...You think its true that blondes have more fun the brunette's?
i.e. You see a dog...I love pets, their just so awesome, that dog reminded me of time...

Get the point? hope that helps, let me know if it didn't

Have a thumb war, cheat, and then tease her for loosing.
Invent a unique handshake between the two of you.

Just have fun. :)

Samex gave some good ones, situational awareness is good.

More "fun" questions you can use that usually lead to more conversations are.

When was the first time you got drunk (usually involves a funny story)

Worst date ever? (I had a girl laughing when she told me about a guy who took her to a mcdonalds drive through!)

I have a canned story that leads to a question.
When I was about 6 there was a school fair, one of the guys running a "guess how many sweets in the jar" game had walked off for a bit, me and my friends didn't like this kid so we counted all the sweets while he was gone! Then il ask if they have done anything naughty like that.

Worked like a charm!

I asked her about when she first got drunk to revive a dying conversation. Then when I led her to the bar to isolate her I started commenting on one of the guys in the crowd making predictions about him,
"the bouncer is going to have a talk with him"
"he'll start a fight with that guy but they'll work it out"
etc...
was right on every prediction

I also made other statements but worked them into playful bets and combined it with kino, putting one arm around her, pulling her close and pointing at something then saying stuff like "I'll bet you a million pounds that guy hits on her and gets rejected" She loved this and started doing some of her own, pulling me even closer.

Thanks for the advice guys

yeah I use the 5 lie test almost every time, but I cant always remember all the questions and responses with the cube. Though I've tried it a couple of times and it went down well.

So what?

Any gap fillers for for when you're not present with the person?

Anyone who's read my recent thread in day twos will know why.
