If she doesn't get the joke, it feels stupid to go into a lengthy explanation (plus no-one ever finds the joke funny after you've had to explain it anyway). So is there something witty or casual that can be expressed instead, I don't know such as, "Its not the punchline that counts, dear, its the SPAM". |

Excellent  I think I need a rather large variety though; my voice isn't exactly intelligible and I slur my consonants in a broad accent so this happens a lot
