Post subject:  Staying Alpha Around a Relatively "Nice" Girl

My GF is very friendly for the most part. Sometimes I feel bad when I put her down (being playful obviously). Is there any way I can retain my alpha qualities while still not being too serious? I don't want to get walked all over because things have gotten too "easy"...does that make any sense?

Thanks a million broossss

I would say soften up a little bit, not to much. Show her that you do have an emotinal side to. Keep her in line and if she acts up and does something you don't like up, tell her and that's how you keep your frame in the relationship. You show her that you have a soft side and if she decides to act up you can always walk away.

How long have you been in the relationship? It depends on how far in you are...

Pick up the book - Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No to Take Control of Your Life, by Henry Cloud....Will help you out a bit there...

One thing I have learned via David DeAngelo's book is that its really a fine line...

My take on it right now, knowing how to interact as I do now: (meaning I might be completely wrong but here are my 2 cents) It's kinda necessary to be a dick...But you can also be Mr. Nice guy from time to time too. Romance and nice has its place, but its kinda over used. You can't just be Mr Nice guy all the time, women naturally will walk over you if they can, now, the reason I asked how long you have been in the relationship is: After a while, you can start being less of a dick as she, and I hate to say it, knows her place.

Will be watching this thread.

No, no, never stop teasing her! You may not have to be as mean about it, but never stop that fundamental aspect of a healthy relationship.
