Was mystery the first PUA, i know he popularised it and taught styles and deangelo but did anyone teach him about all these systems and techniques. Or did he invent all this. yeah so who was the first to actually come up with ways to help guys pick up chicks? |

It might have been Adam, but he fell for Eve's shit test and we've been paying for it ever since. They say Solomon had a great harem, though. French troubadors were trained in the arts of seduction as well. As far as what we do today, though: Ross Jeffries invented it. I'm not saying he came up with what we people here are doing now. A lot has been done since he started it all, but most recognize him as the father of this movement. I think of Jeffries as Newton and Mystery as Einstein and everybody builds on them. I remember in high school back in the 90s lurking on the alt.seduction.fast newsgroup and all they had was Ross and postings from other PUAs on the newsgroup until Mystery came along with his method. |

Actually there was a guy named Eric Weber who wrote a guide to Pickup in the 70's. Style talks about this guy in The Game, and theres a chapter where he eventually meets and interviews him. |

Of course, Fogell is right. That said, I had a fun conversation about this at a local pub with a history major friend, going over historical figures and figuring out if they were PUAs or not. Here's what we came up with: Socrates, the legendary drunken philosopher, invented the neg with his Socratic method. Mystery also used the word "method" as part of the title of his system in homage to the Socratic method. Pythagoras invented geometry while inventing "guess a number" mentalist gambits to use on vestial virgins. Mark Anthony was a total PUA up until the point he died while failing his fPUA girlfriend's shit test. Come on, even the greatest among us fuck up shit tests sometimes. (He and Cleopatra committed suicide together after Octavian defeated him in battle) John Nash won a Nobel prize for inventing wing man theory, but he called it the Nash equilibrium. (If this is over your head go watch a beautiful mind, not just because it will let you get my witty joke, but also because it will help you in life). Benjamin Franklin and his fellow hellfire club members were all PUAs. Rasputin, Freud and Frank Sinatra. This is self evident. (Sinatra was actually arrested for seduction) That's all I can remember off the top of my head. My memory is kinda fuzzy from all the beer we drank while coming up with this list. I know, I'm a noob so I should have been sarging at the pub instead of getting drunk and making stupid lists with my buddy. Sue me, LOL Anybody else want to add to the list? |

I believe that Ross Jeffries is generally credited to be the guy who started PUA as we know it today

Ross is credited as starting the whole thing. He was the first to give seminars on the subject. Juggler (Wayne Elise), however, was the first person to actualy hold infield bootcamps. Mystery then followed suit and that was the start of the infield bootcamps. |

God. Or maybe it was Satan. But my bet is on God. chicks? Adam was the first man to lay eyes on a woman and he fucked her. So the question is, did God bestow upon him the instincts, traits and wisdom to do it himself? Or was he a total AFC and he just choked and ended up in the friendzone and so he needed outside help to try and twist and manipulate things so he could score? Since it's mentioned that God wanted people to procreate my guess is Adam was instilled with a sense of how get in Eve's figleaf or at least he was able to fumble through it and figure it out. In that case the natural wins and God was the first PUA. If on the other hand Adam was the one sitting on his hands doing nothing and the serpent had to teach Eve how to tempt him then Satan was the first. However you want to look at it, Man getting off his duff and approaching women = good. Man sitting on his hands afraid to open his mouth and waiting for women to approach him and tempt him = bad. |
